I am 30 and I have about 15K left in student loans to pay off from undergrad. They are all in good standing.

My fico score is a 780. The only "negative" on my equifax credit is I literally paid off 15.00 on a credit card 60 days late simply because I didn't know I owed it. It was since paid and the account is closed. That was several years ago. Everything else says paid as agreed. I have never declared bankruptcy or defaulted on any type of loan. I have about 3K in credit card debt and I owe about 5K on my car. No parental income or spouse.

I was 27 last year when I started law school and had to apply for loans. I had more debt in credit cards and car than you do (around 10k total), my credit score was lower than yours (late payments and such, none in the past year and a half) and I had no problem getting loans. I've heard that for school loans all they really look at is whether you have ever declared bankruptcy and whether you have defaulted on school loans.
