LSAT fee waiver

Post by pilawpcv » Thu May 27, 2010 12:59 am

LSAC just denied my fee waiver appeal. I'm bummed. I was responsible and saved a tiny bit of money during college (less than one month's COL for Boston) ,but it exceeds LSAC's cash limit. I'm going to use that money to fly to take the LSAT since I live 1000 miles away from the closest site. Also, I currently make $200 a month. I explained all this to LSAC, but I guess they don't care. :-(

Anyhow, that's water under the bridge. Is there any way to get a fee waiver for the LSAT from schools? I'm not too worried about application fees because I should qualify for individual school's need based waivers (and hopefully some merit ones too), but the LSAT fee is the better part of a month's salary...

Thanks for your help.

Well, I'm not entirely sure, but I think an LSAT fee waiver can only come from LSAC. Schools can only waive their application fee.

Well, as it turns out, some schools do grant LSAT waivers but none wanted to give me one. Oh well.

And I did appeal.

Only the LSAC can waive your LSAT and LSDAS fees, but you can apply to most law schools for a need- or merit-based fee waiver.
