My experience has been that Stanford typically offers a somewhat larger amount of need-based aid than Harvard does. This was true of my package pre-deferral, and was true of almost all the peers I talked to 2-years ago who had gotten into both schools. That said, HLS didn't budge very much for me (then again they knew I was probably gonna go to HLS regardless of aid) and I don't know if it's moved for anybody in the '08 cycle. I'd be interested in knowing if anybody has been able to make HLS re-calculate their aid package.
