Are Palestinian's URM's?

Legit question, if a Palestinian was applying to HYS would there be an advantage? Not edging any bets based on race or ethnicity, but I am interested in knowing.

No. The term URM in college admissions refers to minorities in the US that have a history of underrepresention due to discrimination- Hispanics, Native American and Black populations. If you are any of the above then you are URM. Also although Asians are a minority in the US and some certainly have experienced discrimination the Asian population is over represented in the higher academic setting relative to their population so they are not considered URM. You can however look at crafting a Diversity Statement that brings into focus what you have from your background that makes you unique and diverse.
