I mentioned this to a couple of people through DMs but just a couple of things:
- $1100-1500 salary is on some pay scale that is completely the discretion of law firms. There was an anecdote going around that if you're one of the few SEOs at a firm (looking at TX, OH, and CA people), you're probably going to be making that full amount. No idea if this is true or not. If finances are a concern, you can ask SEO for a short-time loan if necessary and SEO did give out three scholarships at the end of our SEO NYC training. (I'm guessing they applied because their bios were read out - scholarships ranged from $1000 to $10,000.)
- SEO is extremely good at preparing you for law school. You'll be stepping onto campus having connections with a Big Law firm that knows who you are, have had the opportunity to network broadly, are part of the SEO network, get a SEO mentor who will tell you how to email people, and it'll help you out job-wise as a 1L.
- If you are concerned about $ (completely understandable), once again... Perhaps try choosing cities close to/where you will be going to school. No matter what you decide to do, its probably going to be chaotic. Some firms may help you "travel" to the city (e.g. you're a HYS student that will be a SEO Fellow in NYC) and most firms will cover your time spent during SEO's NYC institute. (Again, completely at firm discretion). I know there would be people who would want to disagree with me, but I would be willing to take out a loan to make it work for a short term summer. If someone had told me that a year ago I probably would have thought they were crazy, but seriously. SEO is not really about the money but the number of doors that will open once you say you're SEO (especially in NYC) or that you "clerked at insert Big Law firm" before 1L.
- As much as SEO Law does, it's a very small team that is putting this on. No one can say with confidence how many people are interviewed but chances are, you have a good chance to get in if you are being invited to interview. Just don't be weird and have rational answers to questions.

Thank you!

This should be put in the original post so everyone can see it.

Also, that 1,000-1,500. That's before taxes, right?

Sure ! Will quote this in the op.

And yes that’s before taxes. If you make $1500 you will bring about $1000 post tax home. But of course local and states taxes change city to city so you can go on paycheck city to find out projected net pay.

I honestly don't understand the concerns about money. That's the pay per week. So, our pay would be at least $4,400 per month.

Yeah it is more than enough to live on and enjoy your sunmer (plus build savings) either way. Of course people may need to know because of future financial commitments and housing etc. (some people have kids, mortgages, whatnot). its a lot of money either way. Plus all the free lunches you get from the firm. And all the networking and the opportunity to work at the firm again potentially and perhaps secure a full time position that sets up your career. Seo really is a great program regardless

PS. Omg i miss working for a big law firm (i was on the staff side) the amount of free food feels endless it’s a random but nice perk to corporate work

So, getting an interview is a good sign, right? I couldn't tell from the language in the 2 emails they sent yesterday whether everyone gets an interview or not.

I put DC/NYC as my 2 choices but I'd honestly go anywhere haha. Do sometimes people get placed in locations other than their top 2?

Who exactly "owns" TLS now? Hope we get everyone to follow along. The more input from others the better!

I understand that a number of interview requests went on around January 25. However, I didn't complete my application until around that same time. I'm wondering: have any other interview requests gone out since the Jan 25 batch? My application also reflects admittance into a T7 law school. I'm so nervous, and the silence is killing me!

I know many of the in-person interview slots have filled up, but I am guessing if you are a competitive applicant that they will send out invites for more skype interviews if they already visited your city and completed the in person interviews. They told us your chances of getting in are not affected by the type of interview you do.

People are starting to hear back! Mostly LA/TEX/CHI placements it seems.
p.s- Everyone (a lot of URMs) migrated to a new site. TLS blocks any post stating the name of the site BUT if you google "law school forum" it should be the first entry!
