Not to thread hijack but yikes
Honestly was shocked at this figure too...

Yikes af.....but if they accept me, i'll become a mega UChi fan haha

I wonder if it's an issue of blacks not applying or simply not attending when accepted or just not being admitted for the most part.
Current UChi student and SEO alum from last year. Where did you get the 9 black people in the 1L class are all women? I'm pretty sure I can think of 3 black men off the top of my head in my section alone (those three may fall into the two or more races category). Also, feel free to PM me with any questions.

Wow, Chicago's class was 4.8% black and 0% black male. Disconcerting...

Especially when you consider 30%+ of Chicago is African American. I would hate to be in the adcomms chair because that is embarrassing.

Submitted back in the fall. Put Los Angeles as my first preference. I have heard that interviews and placements for non-NY applicants takes longer. Is this true? Thank you.

I applied back in the fall and have updated my app with the acceptances I've received. Has anyone else been doing this? I haven't heard anything from SEO so far

I also have been updating my app as I get acceptances too. The only thing I heard was the email from the director during the holidays and older fall recruitment emails.

True.. When is the end date for it? I think I saw like July 27th or something like that somewhere, is that accurate?

Yes on SEO law’s faqs it lists the program dates as May 20, 2018 – July 27, 2018. Although if you’re thinking of traveling after just remember some law school semesters begin mid-August (with moving, 1L orientation, and classes, etc.)

Last year I believe the first interview requests went out to everyone at the same time regardless of city preference.

If you do SEO, you're going to be spending at least a week in NYC (covered by your firm most likely..unless you place in NYC) and then, completely dependent on the firm, you may have the chance to travel with the firm (e.g. go to a trial in x city).

If you seriously have some nice vacation planned, law firms will allow SEOs who had pre-planned vacations beforehand to take them. That doesn't mean you could be gone for a month tho.

Didn't know that, thanks!

Has anyone actually here gotten an interview request yet? Or do they mean the end of January when they say that's when the interviews begin?

"Over the next few weeks, we will begin reviewing applications and will be extending the first round of interview invitations sometime in January. We look forward to reviewing your application and wish you the best of luck."

That was part of a message sent by Van Bui (director of SEO) on Dec 28, 2017.
