For Friend... AA Male 3.3 gpa 159 lsat
AA Male with 3.3gpa and 159 LSAT... Only interested in schools in top 30 offering 3/4s to full tuition to law school... Can't retake for two years as he says he is out of retakes. What schools fit?

Won't schools in mid 50 maybe give you some cash?

He doesn't see enough value in the 50's to make it worth the time and coa commitment. Would likely remain in corporate America if unable to go to top 30 tuition free... That is unless he got into a top 10 school... Then all bets are off as he would probably just attend.

Maybe Vanderbilt? They've given money to AA applicants with those numbers. T14 is unlikely, but not out of the question. Probably wouldn't bother with YHS/CCN, outside chance at Georgetown and Cornell.

If the requirement is 3/4 aid or better, vanderbilt, cornell, georgetown et al. won't bite with a 159/3.3
6-9 points changing this analysis soooooo significantly though.

Could get half form Cornell. Probably the best he'll do. And thats if they are feeling generous, and want an extra black guy to fill out their class.

Half tuition at Cornell is a good deal imo regardless of how the decision was made

Wasn't a terrible deal for me. But wish I would have retaken for a full scholarhsip. These loan payments are still not joke. And I'm stuck at a big firm for the forseeable future. I make a decent amount of money, but live like I make 30k. Might as well have done something that really makes me happy like being a public defender. But I can't complain.mynameismyname wrote:Half tuition at Cornell is a good deal imo regardless of how the decision was made

Does a sub 160 URM really get half at Cornell?

I highly doubt an AA 3.3/159 would get a half scholarship from Cornell. Maybe with a 165+ thoughLacepiece23 wrote:Could get half form Cornell. Probably the best he'll do. And thats if they are feeling generous, and want an extra black guy to fill out their class.
