Welcome lads!

Feel free to post any additional links you think might be helpful and I'll get them added in.

I was going to add some schools' Outlaws/LGBT student groups, but realized almost all schools have them and it wouldn't be all that useful.

Yeah just make sure for interviews or essays you mention the right one. Some places have OutLaw and some have lambda law groups

Do you guys actually plan on writing a sexuality diversity statement?

I checked the box on LSAC so they'll see how I identify, but have mixed feelings on the diversity statement and whether they're necessary or even expected. Meh.

I didn't even know where the option was on LSAC. A couple of my top school picks just opened up applications so I guess I'll have to go back and look.

It's part of the CRS Preferences, actually.

I'm definitely writing one. Law schools love diversity, and I'm more than happy to be a token if it means I outperform my numbers (however slightly).

I'm really aiming for public interest scholarships as well. Hopefully a PI-centric resume and personal statement will get the job done, but if not, being a member of a historically oppressed class couldn't hurt.

Hah!

It's kind of sad... The worst thing about Liberty isn't even the religious nut-job factor, but the employmenTTT statistics.

29% LST score? Not even Jesus himself could help them get a job.

it won't make much of a difference for admissions really, but if you have something good to write (e.g. overcoming adversity or heavy involvement in the LGBT community) it's worth writing one IMO

What if you just know all the Real Housewives tag lines? That has to be a good soft, no?

I'd love to hear from any current students that wrote a LGBT diversity statement and find out if they feel it helped them outperform their numbers.

I've thought about it. I'm African and LGBT so I might make my diversity statement focus around that, rather than just talking about how gay I am and being done with it. I doubt it would hurt, especially if you have an story that's actually interesting to go with it.

Initial post has been updated to include links to all T14 LGBT student groups. I will try to do the full T1 when time allows.
