Should I include an addendum explaining this?

Post by Tariffs » Fri Aug 02, 2013 10:18 am

I'm half-black half-white, and have disclosed this in my biographical information on LSAC's website and when I applied to my undergrad school. However, when I took the LSAT last December I only bubbled AA because I just didn't realize you could bubble more than one. I obviously plan on bubbling both AA and Caucasian on my LSAT in October.

Question: Should I disclose this discrepancy in an addendum on my law school apps? Does it matter? Apologies if this is a dumb question, but I've been a little worried about it being misconstrued as me trying to cheat the system.

Nah, don't worry about it. Technically, you're both half-black and black, so it isn't really a problem.

Pretty sure that if you have consistently identified yourself as AA you shouldn't be too worried. For example look at Obama, he is our first "black" president and he is bi-racial lol you should be fine

Good, then put down AA/White on all your apps and you'll be dandy. You don't lose/gain any boost for being mixed, so don't stress it too much. ;)

Definitely wouldn't write an addendum.

Wait I'm confused. I thought being mixed still provided the URM boost?

This is like a real life sufficient/necessary overlap explanation.

It does, that's what he's saying, although I agree the wording goes either way.

Ha, yeah, sorry, slightly ambiguous wording.

Mixed = full boost.
