Cornell just sent a request for my final transcripts. I did bad in a hard class and my GPA went from 3.64 - 3.6. Should I be worried?

Vandy's lay prestige is strong here in NYC but not as strong as Columbia, NYU and Cornell. But you wish to stay in Texas, right? Texas, Duke and Vandy are huge names down there. Can't go wrong with any of those choices, honestly.El Principe wrote:AAJD2B wrote:My Vandy reception was VERY convincing. Seriously, I've never witnessed such a happier bunch of lawyers where most everyone knew each other. A family, it seemed like. Folks were reminiscing about their experiences and all seemed to love it. There were Vandy attorneys from several law firms, including Sullivan & Cromwell, Proskauer Rose, Hogan Lovells, O'Melveny Myers, Wilkie Farr, Shearman and Sterling, Goldman Sachs....all of whom were interested to listen and hear more about me. Many were recent grads who found placement in NYC. Very smart group of people. I know Vandy isn't as strong in employment placements as the T14s, but man did this reception make it that more difficult for me to decide.
Oh, and there was like one black attorney and Vandy alum, I think. Not many minorities showed up, though we were well represented as admitted students. I would say a good 10 of us, or so, including other URM groups.
Anyway, tough decisions are ahead
I was set on Texas, but I'm hearing so many good things about Vandy. I'm seriously considering going to the ASW in April if they'll still reimburse plane tickets.
Tomorrow's my day off, so I'll call and check and see how that process goes.
With a strong aid package and/or a Law Scholars Award, Vandy could go right back on top of the list. I think Vandy could work well for you. I hear they do quite well in NYC, plus you have ties and pertinent work experience, so perhaps that helps too. Small class sizes.
And I don't know how Vandy's lay prestige is in NY, but down here in the South, people think I'm a god for getting a scholarship there. So there's that...
As for my situation, even with scholarship, Vandy will cost me over 150k. I don't think it's worth that, no matter how great the student experience.

I'm in a very similar boat for Vandy in terms of cost. Don't think I could go through with that.AAJD2B wrote:Vandy's lay prestige is strong here in NYC but not as strong as Columbia, NYU and Cornell. Yeah, I think that's around where my COA will be, but they're still deciding who should get the law scholars awards + need based scholarships/grants are supposed to go out by April, but honestly, I feel the same. My COA would have to be under 100K in order to go anywhere tbh. That's about where I'll be with Texas, so Vandy's going to have to keep coming strong.AAJD2B wrote:

And I'm still pending on Duke so I'm crossing my fingers... but lord knows what's going to happen with scholarships if that even happens.

Haha. I'm a natural worrier, but I've trained myself to calm the fuck down by using this strategy.El Principe wrote:Lol, that shouldn't make me feel any better, yet somehow the honesty does.EvMont wrote:No, because there's nothing you can do about it now.El Principe wrote:Cornell just sent a request for my final transcripts. Anyone have a clue how long after you submit a seat deposit you can expect to hear back from SEO regarding their decision?
