I think you say something like "XXXXX Law school has offered $XXXXXXX, I would really like to attend your school so is there anyway that you could increase your offer."

There is a thread on this in one of the other parts of the website.

Thanks! Yeah I skimmed the thread but couldn't find any exact answer to this question, and I figured I'd get a quicker response here.

In negotiations is best to be direct. No need to beat around the bush. Let them know what you have because it will provoke them to make a move. And better to know now if they will match or not; if they wont, you can withdraw and have one less thing to worry about.

Also, as much as I want SEO, they're whole 'wait until we get your enrollment form' thing makes me anxious. I feel like I have to hurry to pick a school, because I really can t wait until May to begin looking for housing in DC.

Same! I was looking at the DC housing and it's not looking good at all. My fam lives in the suburbs and that might be my only option unless I find something reasonable that is available.

Yes, I honestly might have to stay in a college dorm like i did last summer to intern in DC. Those tend to have more lenient deadlines, especially my undergrad housing.

what college dorm is it? I stayed away from that because I thought they wanted all the money upfront.

I'll pm you.

And they generally do. But I know one of my roommates from last summer didn't pay more than have of it until into August so there's ways around it.

Interesting new USNews rankings. Biggest jump was Emory, bumping by 4 slots. SLS is now #3 and UVA loses to Penn by -1 differential. GTown bumps by 1 to meet with Cornell. Duke now trumps Michigan to complete the T10 cutoff.

So does that mean MVP is no longer a thing? Also, pat on the back for GULC.

That's what I said. My alma mater is losing that key ground. We better not drop out of the T-20 though!

This cycle is going more slowly than molasses in January. And it's March.

Ugh.

I have a few quick questions about Columbia:

1. Is their policy to just send out an acceptance letter without first giving the applicant a phone call?
2. Are all of the admitted students first invited for an interview? I know their site says that the interviews are given randomly, but I wasn't sure if they're only interviewing those candidates who they're seriously considering admitting.

1. Columbia doesn't call. Acceptances have come by both email and mail this cycle; it seems like they are increasingly coming by email at this point.
2. Most admitted students aren't invited to interview. I haven't looked at all the cases, but it seems like a large majority of those invited for an interview are accepted.
