Penn is snatching wigs and hairpieces off heads today. A number of URMs were WL or rejected, myself included. Bleh.
I was WL'd. Anyone plan on staying on the WL?

Definitely. I wouldn't pay sticker for Penn but I'd love to attend.AAJD2B wrote:Penn is snatching wigs and hairpieces off heads today. A number of URMs were WL or rejected, myself included. Bleh.

Awesome. Me too. Gonna talk about my visit in my LOCI and send an additional LOR. I didn't really sell the "why Penn" in my optional essay. Going to play my last card on this one.californiauser wrote:Definitely. I wouldn't pay sticker for Penn but I'd love to attend.AAJD2B wrote:Penn is snatching wigs and hairpieces off heads today. Re: URM 2013-2014 Cycle Thread
I've decided to throw in a SEO app and work something out with my current employer. My only problem is condensing my résumé to one page. I'm trying to decide which WE, honors, service, and leadership positions to remove. This is going to be a long night.

I won't be hearing back for a while, but if I was WL'd I'd stay on. I loved Penn when I visited and I really like the idea of taking a few courses at Wharton. Plus, their big law placement numbers are REALLY good.AAJD2B wrote:Penn is snatching wigs and hairpieces off heads today. A number of URMs were WL or rejected, myself included. Bleh.

Thanks for the encouragement Ev! I'm just flabbergasted that Penn say they want more black students at their school but have WL'd and even rejected strong URMs, including a 3.6/168 URM.EvMont wrote:I won't be hearing back for a while, but if I was WL'd I'd stay on. I guess I should be happy to still have a shot there.

They snatched me bald and I am already bald at that. They took the few pieces of specks I have left on my head lol.AAJD2B wrote:Penn is snatching wigs and hairpieces off heads today. A number of URMs were WL or rejected, myself included. Bleh.

oh okay. I know a few MAs who got WL'd today with 165+ LSATs and 3.7+ GPAS. I think they will probably end up taking a lot of URMs off the WL though.AAJD2B wrote:

Re: URM 2013-2014 Cycle Thread
But why WL strong URMs to begin with? Honestly, by that time folks will have already deposited at higher ranked schools. They are talking about revisiting the WL by mid-May. Say whaaatt??!!applelover wrote:oh okay. I know a few MAs who got WL'd today with 165+ LSATs and 3.7+ GPAS. I think they will probably end up taking a lot of URMs off the WL though.AAJD2B wrote:

Sorry to hear about UPenn AAJD. Also can't believe they would reject your friend, who knows what kind of URMs they must be looking for o_0. I'd stay on the waitlisted and ride it to the end. Best of luck!

What I did was added my ECs in the section where you can add more detail about yourself. My one-page just included all of my work experience.applelover wrote:I've decided to throw in a SEO app and work something out with my current employer. Re: URM 2013-2014 Cycle Thread
Its no biggie. I didn't do a why penn essay. Even though it could have only helped. It really wasn't a number one choice of mine anyway. My top choices are between Berkeley, Michigan, Georgetown and Cornell in the T 14.AAJD2B wrote:*DEAD*ThePiedPiper wrote:They snatched me bald and I am already bald at that.
