That's a BFD, as Joe Biden would say.

Congratulations, good luck, and let us know how it goes!

I moved and it has taken me a while to get settled--also, commuting to work is pretty lame--but I wanted to check back in quickly and say congrats to everyone!

How does the seo thing work? Do you pay to participate?

checking in. AA Female
UG GPA: 3.56
LSAC GPA: 3.48
Dec '13 LSAT: 163 (not thrilled about this)

i feel like back in '08 this may have been good enough for T14 but i think it's harder to get in to good schools now and this won't cut it. (HYS, NYU, Columbia are my interests)

any advice? seems like those of us getting into T14 either have 165+ or 3.5+ or are splitters. i just have a mediocre GPA and a mediocre LSAT.

Do you have a link to these numbers? (Not a Tls thread). I would like to review the source.

wow
such pessimist
too negative
many great

Srsly: this talk about "easier in 08" doesn't even add up. The number of LSAT takers has fallen 45% since 2008, and the quality has gone down too (higher scorers have accounted for a disproportionate amount of that decline). The pool of applicants now is not only much smaller than it was 5 years ago, it is weaker too. A 163 puts you in a better position now than you'd have been in 5 years back.

http://thecareerist.typepad.com/thecare ... years.html

Even in 2008, a 163 for an AA was a lock for the T-14, especially when combined with a solid (3.48 is solid) GPA. You're well above the 99th percentile for AA test takers. There are less than 100 (probably 50-70 by my guess) AAs in the entire country with numbers superior to yours, and the T-14 took in 270+ AAs last year. Do the math. There are plenty of AAs in here with LSATs lower than yours and similar GPAs who have T-14 acceptances already.

viewtopic.php?f=14&t=195443

Apply as soon as possible to as many T-14s (and a couple good T-20s) as you can and enjoy multiple acceptances.

If the rec comes in too late for this cycle, see if you can hold off until next cycle and apply very early (September) to as many T-14s as possible. You'll get results you'll like.

Yes, I did. I believe it was hidden though.

Not sure if you already mentioned this but its worth reaching out to them and asking for one. That worked for me for several schools.

In addition, has anyone interviewed for the Darrow scholarship at Michigan? Love some tips if you have.

Not Columbia. AFAIK CLS Admissions has told every applicant who has emailed them for one to wait for CRS.

SEO LA interview :). Maybe they do like me after all

edit: I really need to buy a nice suit and shoes :( I feel so unprepared lol

2nd edit: Has anyone actually managed to schedule their interview using the web platform? There is no LA location option, but even if I choose NYC I don't see any open slots.

Just wondering - can anyone explain the advantage of the Law SEO program? From what I read on their website they set you up with an internship before law school? Is that the gist of it? Does it look to jobs in the future or does getting into the program somehow make you a better law school applicant? Or are there any other amazing advantages that I'm missing?

It doesn't make you a better applicant because you must place a seat deposit at a school and notify them of where you'll be attending before they will accept you.

Congrats!

But I did manage a DC slot, but it didn't appear until a few days after the interview request. I would keep checking. In the mean time, maybe register for a Skype interview for reassurance and then cancel it when the LA/NYC opens up.

Here's the general gist of it from GAIA’s Guide

This is a wonderful opportunity that I wish I had jumped on. It’s essentially a program that recruits 0Ls during the admissions cycle, interviews each applicant, awaits your final school acceptance, and then if they want you, will place you in a great, and I mean GREAT firm! I know people who worked at Jones Day, S&C, Fried Frank, Weil, etc. Not only will you get paid approx. $2000/month (fact-check pls?), but if you do a great job you will receive an offer to return for your 1L summer! That’s a 1L summer job secure before you even start 1L and puts you in an awesome position for 2L OCI if you want to explore other options. Finally, and most importantly, you’ll be able to use all your money earned from three summers to pay down your tuition debt (if you have any!) DO. IT. Apply!!! I really, really wish I had! Would have made my life much easier during 1L knowing I already had a firm job
