I looked into emory.... im just worried about wasting time and money going to a school in a market that I wont stay in and at a school that may not boost my chances at being employed to pay off the debt

Yep December for me. No, it's my second take. I got accepted into UCLA last time around. Sometimes I regret not just going, other times I don't. Really looking at NYU/Cornell/North Western/U PennAAJD2B wrote:UCLA, USC, WUSTL and Vandy for me. You're taking in December right? I don't think I could fade Howard. The combination of TTT (I know they still have god job placement) and the potential for distraction make it a no go for me.

If one couldn't get t-14, Howard full-ride + living expenses doesn't seem like a terrible deal.mandyjay11 wrote:okaygo wrote:Also I could maybe be tempted to GW with $$$

How's Howard do with jobs tho?
I imagine they have a supportive alumni group, but... just curious.

Hey can anyone please provide any insight for my chances at t14 - ucla - usc -ut?
3.22 / 170 URM MA
Top 15 public school grad, worked part-time throughout school (to address GPA concerns)
My main strategy is to ED at UVA at this point

Just found out my black guy friend with a 3.8 got a 174. And he wants to go to UVA. There goes my scholarship money.

Hmm, that's not bad... their top 10% actually gets over $110,000californiauser wrote:Not amazing, but OK for a TTTEl Principe wrote:californiauser wrote:If one couldn't get t-14, Howard full-ride + living expenses doesn't seem like a terrible deal.mandyjay11 wrote:

Although, I'd feel a little safer with a good local/regional school here, like SMU or Houston with $$$.
That's what I'll be looking forward to anyways if I don't improve my LSAT in December.

More than 58% of Howard U grads (2011) didn't have jobs at graduation. And only 16 students -- yes, 16 -- were hired through their OCI.
So there's that.

Hey I've seen your posts in other places, there's not much I can say about your numbers cuz there very little data for MAs. Check lawschoolnumbers.com, but I don't think EDing to UVA is a good idea IMO. Perhaps other posters like Nova or twenty will reply.jstep wrote:Hey can anyone please provide any insight for my chances at t14 - ucla - usc -ut?

Re: URM 2013-2014 Cycle Thread
Anyone know the general turnaround time at UVA from complete to phone call? Also, any insight on USC? A friend of a friend said I should apply. She's a black female 2L at USC with an offer from my old firm.
Sidenote: I just took an unfamiliar timed LR section and went -2. I dunno what happened in October but I seek revenge in my December retake. Glad to see my timing is also in a similar range.

The only thing I really know about USC is that the Rothman scholarship is ridiculous. http://weblaw.usc.edu/how/jd/rothman/AAJD2B wrote:Anyone know the general turnaround time at UVA from complete to phone call? Guaranteed 1L Summer at Skadden.

I'm also out on Howard. Their placement isn't bad for their rank, but if something were to happen and you hit near the bottom of the class, things could go bad quickly. My opinion might change if I was set on living in DC.

I honestly don't know. You're URM which makes your cycle already unpredictable. On top of that you're a splitter which adds to the unpredictability.jstep wrote:Yeah that's the gist I've been getting.Dr.Zer0 wrote:Hey I've seen your posts in other places, there's not much I can say about your numbers cuz there very little data for MAs. In your opinion, do you think it's a bad idea because of $ or because I may have a shot at a school ranked a few slots higher?
What I can tell you is the following, if you ED to UVA you won't get money. Also your gpa bars you from CA schools which are gpa whores. If I was in your position, I would consider retaking the LSAT. I would also apply regular decision, might get some $ at the lower t-14. If I didnt get into a school I wanted this cycle, then I would apply next year to UVA on the ED track.
