Enough about that. Suits is on so we can discuss Harvey and the chances he'll get it on with a guy any time soon

Also, instead of this being a celebrity picwhore thread, I do have a serious question:

We all know that being gay doesn't really have much of a boost in admissions, but is there any data that points to a noticeable leg-up in firm hiring?

You already know my anecdotes on that subject, but everyone I've talked to in my firm/industry says it can only help.

No data, tho.

I agree. It's funny but when I was researching for tars it was either PN or MB and I was going back and forth for a while

How could data like this exist? Self reporting?

Would it be included under what firms call "diversity hiring"?

At the very least, there a lot of diversity SA's that we're eligible for (I've noticed them while I troll for private scholarships). Moreover, I know that the GPA floor is softened at certain firms through their diversity programs.

I do, however, wonder if there is a negative affect at some of the more conservative firms. Do you think they would reject us due to "firm culture" and "fit"?

One interesting thing I found when I was perusing UMN's admitted students' website was info on this scholarship program. There are a lot of other ones for other schools, too, and I think in all of the ones that are specifically for URM students, it includes LGBT. I don't know if that's the choice of the individual firms that sponsor the scholarships, or if it's just the standard form description that Law Preview came up with.

There is a self-reported data point on NALP profiles that tell how many gays are in the mix, but I can say with 100% certainty that those numbers are understated 100% of the time.

Not after Sullivan and Cromwell's lawsuit from a number of years back. And they all want that perfect HRC rating.

I noticed this as well. I know for a fact my buddy at UCLA got an interview with Skadden because of diversity. His GPA was not above their normal cut-off. He didn't get an offer, but he did get a screener out of it.
