I incorporated LGBT issues into my personal statement, and I think I got some boost from it. PM me if you wan't to discuss further. I don't think it gives you any "extra points" such as other types of URMs.

For what it's worth, I think my discussion of my sexual orientation in my DS had a significant positive impact on my cycle. Granted, I'm also a traditional URM, so it's hard to untangle the standard URM boost from everything else. However, based on my numbers and a URM boost, I still don't think I would have gotten into the T6 schools I got into without a discussion of my multiple kinds of "diversity."

/anecdotal evidence blah blah blah
