Disclaimer: I know I'm not technically a URM. But it is foolish to think that being Cuban didn't have some impact on my cycle. I checked here first when I found TLS, and I'm sure it is the same for many other Cubans lurking on this forum. Leaving this for them.

Congrats to all!
Profiles like this really surprise me. This guy has seemingly auto-admit numbers. When did you go complete? It seems like it took Harvard awhile to accept Syme (assuming that Syme applied in the fall). This also makes me wonder if a good gpa from a top private > a good gpa from a large state > good gpa everywhere else.
I submitted on 1/18.

I know my LSAT is pretty epic, but I would hardly call my GPA auto admit for Harvard. I am amazed I got in, especially coming from a large, non-prestigious university in the Midwest. Fully expecting a ding from Stanford to finish my cycle.
Sweetheart... when combined with that LSAT, your GPA is (clearly) more than sufficient. It makes you a splitter by Harvard standards, sure, but I mean you're not like a 3.6/177 splitter. You're sitting at 75% LSAT, and JUST below 25% GPA. Anyways, not trying to steal your excitement, but just to say that you have NO reason to have a defeatist "if I wasn't Cuban I wouldn't have gotten in" mentality. You've earned your successes so far :) But yeah, congrats to you!
Yes. You deserve this! There are many people, regardless of race, class, and gender, who did not work for your stats. Smile and take in the moment.

This article proves that softs really do matter in the long run. If the traditional thought suggests that whites have to get higher stats than minorities, then this disproves that notion completely. Overall, all applicants were within the same range of each other. Granted it is Baylor, but I really do believe that schools in general are accepting the best of the best. Point blank.

Haha thanks, but I was held on 3/22 and didn't get a JS1, so not holding my breath. I've seen other people with lower stats get a JS1 after a 3/22 hold, which makes me think that Harvard is more focused on softs for URMs that are hovering around 25th percentile or below. Obviously below a certain threshold, stats come into play again (perhaps somewhere around low 160s/3.6?), but I feel like it is significant that people held the same day as me have already gotten JS1s. I could be wrong, but it seems like Harvard has already decided those people are their top choices for URMs and will revisit the hold piles depending on how how the class shapes up?

Two Stanford URM admits today.

Officially lost all hope.

EDIT: Although both were AA URMs so maybe Dean Deal is going through that pile first.

*grasps at straws

I'm holding onto hope that they want a loveable NA applicant with a high GPA. ...it's the only hope I have.

Stanford tends to favor GPA over LSAT, so that should help you! Also I've heard that SLS makes a real effort to put together a class of students with very different backgrounds, so that should work in your favor:-)

So my friend who applied to Yale has been freaking out about her Yale app. It's getting exhausting but now I know how I sound on tls. She keeps asking me if any URMs specifically AA's have gotten into Yale. Since I didn't apply I really havent been following up on it and LSN isn't very helpful. Can anyone in the Yale Facebook group answer this question so I can put her at ease (or crush her hopes). It's a little stalkerish but I think we all have it in us. Thanks.

haha, i appreciate your optimism. i really don't know that my lsat score will give me a leg up for harvard bc it is still lower than 25th percentile.

Lol if u haven't noticed as a urm a 170/3.7 is good enough 4 Harvard. Hopefully u hear good news soon. Your acceptance track record has been good so far. The only reason I think they would waitlist u is if they feel u would turn them down 4 Yale

hahaha aw, thanks for the encouragement!
i guess what i meant to say is that i think harvard will look more holistically at URMs with numbers below their medians (especially below the 25th percentiles). E.g. I suspect someone w/ the same GPA as me, a 165 LSAT, and better softs (in HLS's mind) may have a better shot than me despite the extra 5 LSAT points. I could be totally off base, but I feel like with everything else held constant, softs play a greater role than LSAT once the 160ish threshold is crossed?
