I still want happier resolution for the other LGBT storyline on Glee, but I guess where they're now with it is realistic.er doctor wrote:And about time, toomisterbingley wrote:don't want to spoil the latest episode of glee for anyone who hasn't seen it, but OMFG I CAN'T BELIEVE IT FINALLY HAPPENED!!!!

Paulina, you need to visit the dirty questions thread more often.paulinaporizkova wrote:just didn't know!Magnolia wrote:paulinaporizkova wrote:i do not believe itMagnolia wrote:I'm a little late to this party, but checking in.

i think you got it right that television wish fulfillment is exciting in that it allows the audience to live somewhat vicariously through the character. it's why people generally do not like characters they cannot relate to at all, because nothing that happens to that character is transferable to that viewer. i watch glee to take a break from life/work, where i have to think a lot. when i'm on break, i want something to satisfy my simpler urges, not something that will engage me to think.plurilingue wrote:When I saw the scene, a French-speaking friend seated next to me turned and exclaimed, "Ah, mais c'était troooop parfait le premier basier de Kurt!" Ironic use of hyperbole in French -- it actually was too perfect. And I have to admit, seeing Kurt's first (real) kiss like that, continuing this trend of Glee fulfilling the audience's wishes (see: big girls and Lauren Zizes being pursued by Puck), was slightly painful because ... it just doesn't happen like that in real life. (Do people find television wish fulfillment exciting or slightly consternating? Perhaps I lack the imagination to embrace Glee on its terms...?)misterbingley wrote:don't want to spoil the latest episode of glee for anyone who hasn't seen it, but OMFG I CAN'T BELIEVE IT FINALLY HAPPENED!!!!
Anyway, the original songs were ... utterly unremarkable: microwaveable pop ready for primetime, which does something of a disservice to the message of individualism that this show extols weekly. Both songs have charted on iTunes downloads as #1 and #2 this week -- sigh. America.
In sum, not one of my fave Glee episodes...but did brighten what has been an otherwise unfortunate week. =]
