great answer. i guess bragging rights about the better school is way too hazardous in this market.

"Bragging rights" are only better insofar as they are able to help you get a job.

i guess the question then becomes where in the top 100 do bragging rights have diminishing returns

There is no clear cut answer (and I'm assuming we're referring to employment prospects rather than bragging rights).

After the T14 (and even within the T14) schools are regional. If you want to work in CA, don't go to GW just because it's higher ranked than Hastings.

The main point is that choosing a school is mainly a balance between employment prospects, cost of attendance, and location. If we're talking about paying sticker I'd probably stop paying sticker at the T12 (or the T18 if I'm feeling risky). After that (WUSTL/GW and below), I do not think those merit paying even close to their full cost of attendance.

Nice, UIUC seems to give Cubans a bump, if you look at LSN, Cubans with 3.1-3.3's and 161-163's have gotten in with $$$.

157/3.95 ugpa/4.0 ggpa/Cuban.

I was over in the UVA thread and some of us were suspecting that a lot of URMs were wailtlisted yesterday. I doubt I'll get in since I'm on the WL; they seem to WL a ton of people.

Im waiting for uf fsu fiu since I would like to stay in FL. Im also waiting on miami but i dont think that even if I get in, I will get any scholly money. Thats a dilemma. Ive been told countless times to retake. this is my second try. im not sure what to do. ill have to wait to the end of my cycle. however, i really dont want to take the year off. i want to proceed with my intention to attend for the class of 2014. What do you think?

If you think you could pull up your LSAT in time for the June test, I would by all means retake and try again next cycle. Or, if you are confident about the places you applied and wouldn't mind attending them, you could go there. Just know that going to school at a T4 will tie you down to that region's market, and your school will probably not be first choice for employers to hire from in that area.

But, if you know you just want to be a lawyer with as little of debt as possible and you can't pull up that score, you could go for it. At least you'll have a full ride so you won't go into major debt. But, you REALLY have to watch those stipulations on the scholarships, because T4 schools are notorious for having tough curves that will cause you to lose your scholarship. Also, their low curve could make it difficult to transfer out.

I think cuban is getting treated like a URM at many schools. My gf #s are 3.49/161 she is in at:

UIUC w/45k
UNC
Wake
Cardozo w/ money
FSU
Miami
Wayne w/75% scholly

I agree with you. I feel like my outcomes have been right on-par with checking the URM box on Law School Predictor.

I also got into Brooklyn Law today, but I would definitely attend UNC over Brooklyn.

Congrats on getting into Iowa. But its not clear if you got a boost because while your LSAT is 2 points below their 25%, your GPA is above their 75% by .05.

Do any "other Hispanics" out there have any examples of getting into a school with LSAT and GPA below both 25%s?

That would prove a boost beyond any doubt.

My GPA is above most everyone's 75ths, but my LSAT is below all the 25ths at the schools I applied to. I know that's not what you're asking about but since LSAT seems to count a lot more, I fully believe I have gotten a boost in admissions.
