What are my chances?
Hi Everyone it seems as though everyone asks...but I am having a tough time deciding 'reach schools'
I got a 161 (with a note from LSAC saying that I had poor testing conditions) and my GPA is a 3.75. Should I be considering top ten schools like NYU and Columbia? I would love to know my chances at those schools. I also have an interesting background, I am an immigrant from South Africa and I was born in Lesotho (but that's besides the point
Thanks again guys!

CCN: Columbia, Cornell, Northwestern.sagirl27 wrote:Whats CCN? Oh wow I never realized that it made a difference. Thank you
And yes, being part of the African diaspora makes a considerable difference in your chances of being admitted.

Re: What are my chances?
So many questions and thanks for the help everyone..
1. Will going ED really help my chances?
2. Do ED students have lower financial aid packages because of they are already committed?
3. Finally, in reference to the above....why do they like Black women a lot (I guess I thought that AA Men were more of a hot commodity) and why do they like African Diaspora?
If anyone can answer these questions...I would be unbelievably grateful!

Re: What are my chances?
1. Yes, but it isn't always that significant.
2. Yes, ED applicants get little to no aid. If schollies are important to you over getting into the tippy top school you can, then don't ED.
3. I think AA male may get a bit more but it is a similarly huge boost for AA female.

Don't forget to add Harvard, Stanford and Yale to your list. I think you're definitely in at NYU and Columbia.sagirl27 wrote:Hi Everyone it seems as though everyone asks...but I am having a tough time deciding 'reach schools'

Re: What are my chances?
Hold on, OP is black from Africa, does that really mean a URM boost? Remember, unless one is Mexican or Puerto Rican, there is no "Hispanic" boost for law schools (or at least usable one), unlike UG. OP should check up on it.
