Based on all the "I still haven't finished my PS" comments on here, I think a congrats is still deserved. Folks, understandably, seem to be a bit hesitant to pull the trigger.

If you post your stats and list of reaches in this thread, you'll prob get some helpful feedback.

It looks like you will have a great cycle Timmna! :D I am also retaking in October to better my chances....do you have a target school you would like to go to?

Thanks - good luck on the test! Meet back here late October/ early November to obsess until the score is released?
I think I'm pretty drawn to NYU actually, but also really like Georgetown, Berkeley and Columbia. What about you?

Yes....most definitely will be stressing out! All I have been doing is studying I just can't wait to get this over with....

I think at this point you would probably have a huge chance at all those schools especially if you break 165. I would love to stay on the east coast or live in Chicago (I love the west coast but I have been there for the past 4 years and would like a change).

Here is crossing my fingers for the both of us!

I think you should approach your application as if you don't have any reaches. If there is something in your application that you believe would leave a reviewer with question marks or uncertainty, try to address it somewhere in your application. (This advice isn't new or original but repeating it never hurts.)

How do u feel about your softs, essays, LORs?

If you look at each school most have a a breakdown of ages and some even provide a statistic of how many students are coming directly from undergrad.

I am thinking about applying to Northwestern as well. I will have a year of work experience by the time I law school starts but at this point its only been a few months so who knows what will happen  .

NU's app specifically asks how much w/e you will have at matriculation.

I'd say softs are fairly average. I'm a member of a fraternity and a couple student organizations, but I work full-time and go to school, so I don't have a lot of spare time for much else. LoRs are good; one is still not turned in. I'm very proud of my essays, but still deciding when to send just PS and when to send DS as well.

I see a few reasons why you shouldn't be worried about your "reaches." :)

(Also, regardless of the schools folks are going after/getting into, much respect to all URMs that are engaged in the process of applying to law school.)

Im trying to decide what will be the tone of my PS. I graduated late from a Cal State University, not great GPA but my PT's are pretty cool (158-165), though I have a much lower LSAT from June 2010 (didn't study at all/was unaware of Powerscore). I ran track in college for two years, voted into student government twice, was published in my universities quarterly journal, and joined a National Fraternity while in undergrad. Any input or guidance will be appreciated.

Timna--I would send a DS as well as PS unless you think they would be very similar. From reading many threads it seems like the consensus (URM or not) a Diversity Statement could be a great way to talk about yourself an d include anything about your life that isn't included in the rest of your application.

Just read an email from one of my recommenders. He was informing me that he sent the letter off and shared a few sentences of what he said. I shed a tear. Seriously. lol

This process has been stupid long and in some ways just stupid, but it is slowly and surely coming to an end. Good luck to everyone and keep grinding.

congrats... but we all know with your numbers a Duke acceptance was low risk. Too bad they won't see you in the Fall of 2011 -- Duke's loss is HYS's gain!!

Yep, first acceptance.. In via the priority track program. Feels good but Im pretty sure it just destroyed whatever motivation I had left for my last semester of undergrad(I graduate in December).

Umm if I were in your position I totally would be feeling extreme symptoms of senioritis! You will probably get into all the schools you applied do you have a favorite or will you just weigh out your scholarship money because I am sure you will get a lot!

It comes down to scholarship money in the end. Im really into UChicago, UMich, Harvard, Stanford, and Duke. The love for Duke depends on me getting accept to the MA program as well though(applied for JD/MA dual degree). Dollar for Dollar, I would have a hard time choosing between UChicago and Stanford.

Hi guys, thought I'd introduce myself instead of just stalking the thread.

3.3 (3.4)/163 MexA female

softs:
MA English from big state school
WE as a Resident Director in an inner city dorm in Denver
Good LORs, PS, etc.

I have 24 apps out there (thanks to a fee waiver for making it possible) but I don't think I aimed very high...
Any ideas for a couple more apps I should send out? What are reaches you would recommend for me?
Don't want to be in the midwest.

Thanks guys!

How high have you already applied? Do you want to a stronger school at sticker or do you prefer looking at scholarship offers? If you want a T14 and don't mind sticker I would send an ED to UVa right now as it seems like the best shot.
