Hopefully some $ comes through the pipelines, but after ASW this weekend I think NYU is the place for me too.
Care to break it down for someone who is going to have to make that NYU/CLS pretty soon most likely? As in NYU's deadline is tomorrow for me to accept $$$...though I hope to get that extended at least until Thursday or Friday.

I was at both ASD's for CLS and NYU last week and I completely feel what Law Monkey and others are saying. (in fact, I bet I spoke with some or all of them in person over the days). Beyond PI, NYU's vibe was noticeably more welcoming. NYU reminded me why I want to be a lawyer. CLS reminded me that I can (probably will) be very successful as a lawyer. NYU was positively inspiring. Prof. Bryan Stevenson was a definite highlight, but the whole institution just seemed to have more energy. Intangible, I know, but that's how I felt.

Additionally, as it pertains to this thread, I felt like the Student/Alumni of color community was MUCH stronger. We were invited to the annual BLAPA Gala (That is the Black, Latino, Asian and Pacific Islander Association...I think...I may be wrong about what BLAPA stands for). It was an inspiring night (and a VERY fancy one). All of the speakers - alumni, students, professors, administrators - gave the sense of a real community doing interesting things to push the boulder of progress uphill. In short, for me, it felt very comfortable.

That being said, I bet the community at CLS has a similar event and we didn't have the opportunity to compare. Obviously, this was just a limited introduction to the schools. Did others who attended feel similarly? I'm happy to talk via PM about more of my impressions of the event if someone is interested.

I'm interested if you want to PM me. I'm just trying to gather intel. As far as the NYU feeling goes...I've heard that Columbia doesn't try to sell you as hard. To what extent I don't know.

lol

Decision will result in an "open" seat at either Harvard or Stanford. Sounds like a win-win for the OP and whoever gets their spot.

Disclaimer: This is an attempt to open up one of those spots. lol

Got my aid award today from HLS, it was a decent chunk of change but not enough (or too little) to really make my decision for me.

I guess its now up to the HLS ASW to get a feel and see where I will be headed.

Just got the AnBryce.... it's NYU for me! Good luck to everyone nearing the end of their cycle. It's been a long process and I'm so happy to be done.

+1.

I am actually incredibly honored to be waitlisted!

Edit: Now I will celebrate while I'm in Cali.

WL at Michigan. I've already decided where I'm going to go but it still sucks to get waitlisted. That's my 5th one along with UCLA, Vandy, Duke and Chicago.

Who cares? Anyway, are you heading to HLS?

Edit: I don't mean to be mean about it, but I mean, don't worry about the WLs. WLs suck the most when you actually care about getting off them.
