URM 2010-2011 Application Cycle

Post by LLB2JD » Thu Aug 05, 2010 2:20 am

So, it is that time of the year... I suggest we update our profiles so we could help those that come after us. I think our class is going to rock it. Good luck to everyone.

P.S. I'll begin updating this page as acceptances begin to roll in.

Edit: For those of us that are already aware of where we are heading, you can PM me and I will list on here.

Here we go, good luck everyone!

I really need to polish up my PS and DS. Getting it just perfect is definitely much harder than producing a rough draft. Other then that, just need my LOR writers to write and send in my letter, but i've been in contact with both of them. It's sad to say, but i'm already feeling nervous! especially about my PS/DS.

Same here. Although it is tough though given that I am still studying for the LSAT.

I need to start studying for my retake too. I about exhausted all my prep materials though. Oh well, i'm not going to worry about it until after I return home from a trip in about a week and a half.

Given the way you were prepping, I doubt you really need to do anything.

Going for the full ride from HYS duh.

I am really hoping I can do well on the LSAT. Once I start doing more practice tests I will know where I'm at. I'm happy with my UG GPA though. I think I will be blanketing the top 14 (minus Cornell ew..) + GW and Florida.

Where are you guys applying? Anyone have any top choices yet? Any ED?

Haha, first merit full ride at HYS ever.. would be epic. Im applying T14(minus Cornell, GULC, and Northwester) plus Vandy. Top choice will be either Stanford or Harvard depending on if a personal situation ends up compelling me to suck it up and move out east.

Similarly, I'm unsure if I'd be willing to move out west :|

What's with all the anti-Cornell sentiment amoung T14 applicants? Great school in a seemingly liberal and laid-back place.

Behind Harvard and Berkeley, Cornell will be in the "definitely apply" category when I apply next year.

Poor employment prospects in comparison with other T14's.

Plus, I know you've heard about the high suicide rate.

I don't know, there's lots of reasons on both sides, and i'm still not completely sure. (171 not 172 though).

We will triumph!

As will I. Soon as I get that blasted PS/DS out of the way. A curse upon this suburban, bland middle-class upbringing! A curse I say!

I bought the RC bible, but now I regret wasting the money on it. That section has always seemed pretty rudimentary to me--no offense to anyone else. I still have some serious weaknesses in LR that I need to work on though.

From my understanding, an URM doesn't necessarily have to come from an underprivileged to provide a compelling reason as to why their ethnicity provides the desired "diverse" mindset.
