They rejected me too if it makes you feel better, hopefully it'll continue to my only one of the cycle.
From what I've seen even UVA's URM admits have mostly been in-state. Their admissions process is impossible to figure out if you're OOS. Good luck with the rest of your cycle though!
I got rejected a couple of weeks back but I bounced back with UChicago so it's all good. I am OOS though. I was more surprised about Penn requesting my fall grades today. I really didn't want to submit anything else for this process. You know senioritis is getting pretty bad when this is considered a burden on my part.

Good luck; I'm sure the request is a good sign. I got a quick WL from Penn. Did you send a LOCI to H?

2 quick questions:-

Did anyone else get a fall grade request from Columbia? And does anyone know if that is a good, bad or neutral sign?

Just got back into town and haven't had opportunity to check my email all day. When I finally did a few minutes ago I was greeted by two acceptances!!

In at Howard w/ 25k a yr. In at American, but I don't know if they've decided on scholarships yet.

Timmna,

No, I've been thinking about it...but what more is there for me to say? It is obviously my first choice and I would definitely go but I really don't know what else to say. I've been thinking it. What did you talk about (if you did it)? Maybe, I should look at the info on here about writing LOCIs....but I really haven't done much since.

A lot of people in the Columbia thread have been saying that it's completely random. There have been requests for people below, at, and above median. It also probably means that your app is at least being looked at right now. I don't think it really helps you guess a decision though. There were some ED people with 4.0s who got grade requests (and maintained their 4.0) and then got deferred. But a lot of people on last year's thread had good results after a request, so who knows?

Word. Well I will just hope for the best. If not, Penn still looks pretty nice ( admittedly not Columbia nice though).

Congrats hopfl! I found out I'm in @ Howard with 25k a year today as well. Where is Howard falling on your list? It's so inexpensive, and the recruiting is supposedly outstanding, but it is not as highly ranked (obviously) as some of the T14 and T20 schools I've already gotten into... How are you reasoning out your decision?
I'm interested to hear what other Howard accepts are thinking as well. I got in today w/ 30k a year, but I've also gotten acceptances from UVA, NYU and Michigan. I expect to hear more about $$$ from them in Feb and March. But 30k a year at Howard is pretty amazing and I probably won't get a full ride+ anywhere else I've been accepted.

Out at Harvard and Held at Penn on Friday. My first non-positive admissions decisions this cycle. Was hoping to get waitlisted or at least Held until Spring at H so that stung a bit. Oh well, do you all suggest doing a LOCI for Penn at this point?

Out at H? Really...u didn't even get held? That's surprising :? Well, that sucks. I think you're better than that.

Definitely do a LOCI for Penn.

I was a pretty shocked myself (not to sound arrogant or anything  ). Thanks for the advice, I'll get started on that LOCI ASAP.

How are you feeling about UChi? Particularly after how that person answered your question in the chat LOL.
LOL.. it was definitely a bit disconcerting to get that response from a financial aid officer. You would think she, of all people, would recognize there is a financial element to choosing a school. Still, Chicago is definitely the favorite of CCN. If I get the Rubenstein offer I'm likely headed there. If not, I cant justify the price tag.
Is the rubenstein need or merit based? How do you apply? I am so new to all of this and blanketed t14 aside from stanford and georgetown...which schools should I be applying specifically to for aid. I submitted my FAFSA but I don't know what else to do.

Thanks. It's probably 5th after HYS and B. I feel like I would be competitive for a high scholarship there but I'm really feeling as if I'll be going to B if I don't get one of HYS.

My only news is a Vandy waitlist, 160 LSAT, 3.3 GPA, and I interviewed. I think since I interviewed with the dean, he asked me why Vandy over schools like BC and BU for where I want to ultimately practice and I told him I believed I had roots in Boston already and that I wanted to go to the best school possible. He told me he did not think I would have a problem and w/l me.

I know I'm below the medians, but was this URM YP, I know some URMs that got into Vandy with 156s...and I was waitlisted last year with a 154 LSAT.
