Congrats! Did you apply for any named schollys or are you waiting on merit/need based aid?

I checked some boxes on the app for schollys if that means i applied for named ones then yes. i'm really quite uninformed about this entire process.

A lot of them required additional essays for consideration, so you might want to check into that/give NYU a call in order to make sure that you have a complete scholarship application. Assuming you did not submit additional materials, of course.

2.97 LSAC gpa, 158 LSA, top 10 UG, english/theater double maj

first gen african
3 recs, (two profs and one former boss)

applied to many schools (all in the last month) that are probably out of reach but here goes

duke and uva left, in-state for virginia so hoping i have a shot but it's crazy late in the process to not have my app in...duke is my UG, i hear they have a slight bump for alum but don't think that will help with my numbers but who knows..

any thoughts would be appreciated

I know of a few people who were able to submit closely after the deadline, so it couldn't hurt to ask though. Worst case scenario is you're back to square one, which is still an NYU admit. Best of luck to you! Keep us posted.

Waiting: Georgetown, Notre Dame, Chicago, COLUMBIA, Cornell, Duke and Emory.....Does anyone get into any of these this late in the cycle???

Apparently they haven't decided on some people yet, so they're on an unofficial hold.

It seems like they're holding out like crazy to let in/deny/WL URM's no? SO many on hold at Columbia or still UR at CLS and NYU and other T14s. It's kind of nuts. I sent everything in early November and have only gotten 4 decisions. It's insane. They literally don't know what do with most of us it seems.

I think they are suspending rolling admissions for the questionable ones and will pick the cream of the crop when the time is right.

Yeah except that they held the cream of the crop stats-wise, held and WLed a bunch of lower numbers, and have left out the people in the middle. For the most part, anyway. There were definitely exceptions to all those categories.

I would think the only explanation would be that they are trying to be conservative w/ handing out money. I mean, I could see one URM with decent numbers being held or not decided on but there seems to be quite a few.

Agreed. I think it's a money issue. They "forgot" or held a lot of people who are already quick HYS admits. It is questionable , however, whether or not those students would choose to attend CLS without Butlers or Hamiltons.

Same boat here... Applied mid Nov and I've heard from 5, two of which are WL. I just don't knoe what to do with myself with all this waiting.

Based on the U Chicago trend today, it looks like I should be hearing something any mintue now. It is definitely a reach, but blind optimism is my middle name.

Let's just hope that they begin to start rolling out those acceptances to those in the middle

No kidding! We should be their safest bet. We're probably not likely HYS admits, so CLS will be one of the best schools we get so they can woo us with prestige rather than money.
