If you're happy with your career and could retire happily from it, be sure to do lots of research on the true career prospects of the schools you get into before you plop down any cash.Burnsie wrote:Wow!! Such quick responses. I probably won't take the LSAT again. I'm in the spot in life where I can continue on with my career where I'm happy and retire in 13 years, or I can just give it a go and try. I know that I have no chance of getting in a T1 school, and I am more than realistic about it. I applied at UNM, Chicago-Kent, and U of Maine. I like to think my essay was good! I apllied hoping I get in, but knowing the odds aren't good. I just don't want to one day kick myself for not trying. Thank you so much for your fast response!! Good luck to you all as well.

A card carrying Native American, which is the rarest URM. Non-traditional candidate, with significant and unusual public service work experience. Far enough out of school to mitigate the GPA. You don't think he or she has a shot at Cornell (which touts it AA program) or Gtown with a 160? Seriously? Not retaking the LSAT makes it tougher, but even then a T30 is entirely possible.Kohinoor wrote:Extremely bad guess.jks289 wrote:If you hit 160 I would say a shot at the T14, but honestly that is just a guess.

Extremely negative and unhelpful information from Kohinoor, OP. You aren't going to be able to use thing like law school numbers or law school predictor because you fall too far outside traditional metrics. Your best bet is applying to a really wide range of schools. But there is no harm in aiming high.
Looking at LSN, the prospects for URMs under a 3.0 aren't great and get worse as you go down. I looked at Georgetown/Cornell going back several years and couldn't find anyone admitted in the OP's range. It is certainly possible that someone was admitted and never registered with LSN, but assuming that such a person exists would be baseless speculation on my part. If I level your own charge at you and accuse you of providing unhelpful information, do you have any evidence that she has a chance at a T14?jks289 wrote:A card carrying Native American, which is the rarest URM. To be honest, I really have no idea. It was heartening to hear mhernton's account, but I'm also not sure that police work is given the same weight as military service. If it is, maybe you should be applying to some T30s after all. I'm also generally unfamiliar with the admissions criteria of those schools and wouldn't want to give you false hope or be overly negative when I really don't know what I'm talking about. A cursory look at some of them suggests that you're at or above their LSAT medians which hugely boosts your chances.Burnsie wrote:Kohinoor,
I know I won't get into any of those top 30 schools, so I didn't apply. I did apply to UNM, Chicago-Kent, and U of Maine, Rutgers (Camden and Newark) as my reach schools. I doubt I can get in to them as well with my GPA/LSAT scores. In your opinion, do you think I have a chance at any of them? I haven't heard back from any yet. Thanks!!
