Diversity Statements - where are they not accepted?

Postby keeptellingmethat » Wed Dec 23, 2009 12:34 am

Hey guys,

I'm new and I'm wondering if anyone knows if any schools do not accept diversity statements and...if you want to be really nice...what the requirements are for those that do. My list is:
Stanford
Harvard
UCLA
NYU
Columbia
Berkeley
USC

A lot of top schools want you to add them "if" they help explain who you are as an applicant. I called several of my top choices and they stated to please add the diversity statement electronically.

I submitted to all of my schools. (though I took Berkeley off of my list...). I submitted a statement to every school. Just thought I'd follow up.

All schools accept them. The ones that don't specifically ask for them are still interested in reading them. Keep them short (i.e. about 500-650 words)

With the DS, I added them because the app has specific question about diversity. I'm applying to a school, which is a major safety (they'd need to offer a full-ride), that does not have the specific question. How should it be added? Right after the PS with it clearly marked as a DS? Like I said, I'm not really worried if they dinged me because of it, but I'd like to create a strong app.
