I'm flying out to berkeley tomorrow at 6 am, wooo wooo... I have this crazy hope that stanford calls while I'm out there, and I'll just be like, oh well that's nice, I'd like to come and visit... and they'll be like "when?" and I'll say "oooohhh, how about an hour from now?"

edit: just looked at the weather: mid 70's and sunny... mmmmmm

I have returned from berkeley. The weather was amazing, and the campus was absolutely beautiful. I loved the city of berkeley as well; I'm pretty much sold on the place and I want to move out there asap. I'm going to go on a little rant about berkeley and how much I enjoyed myself:

the first thing I noticed about berkeley was how nice the campus was. I thought my undergrad campus was ok as far as college campuses go, but now I realized I've been living in a concrete shit-hole for about 4 years now. To me berkeley embodied my thoughts of the pacific northwest adventure. giant redwoods shot up all through campus with a few streams running down from the hills right through the campus. I think what I liked was the fact that they didn't just build over the environment, as many universities do; they bulit around the environment.

The weather was absolutely great the entire time I was there, which from what I've heard can usually be expected in the spring and summer; in the winter the locals complained about it raining...

I had a cool guy for my tour guide. He explained to me and the other guy getting the tour why he volunteered to do the tours. He said he gave the tours because he really loved being there and wanted to share his excitement. He had been a stanford undergrad, and he said he'd had more fun at law school in berkeley than he'd ever had in stanford.

I'm not going to criticize stanford, but I did realize thorough talking with my tour guy that stanford is not the place for me. I have my heart set on boalt, and really the only competition is Duke. I'm going to withdraw all my other applications. Hopefully after I visit duke, I'll have my mind made up between the two.

my head hurts...

My family is irish, and it was st. patty's day... I started drinking @ noon... I stopped about 30 mins ago. I think I was just severely dehydrated. It was all totally worth it though, as I am now the undisputed beer pong champion of st patty's day for this year.

now I'm going to go chug about 5 glasses of water and sleep for about 12 hours.

I've done with 4 final exams now, written 3 papers, made 2 presentations...
