Law school with largest amount of gay students
As a gay male, I am interested in the above. Anyone care to name a few (aside from Berkeley) or discuss LGBT community and/or life at their school?

If I were you, I'd worry more about the school that offers you the best opportunity to be employed after graduation. Minus Liberty, Regent, and a few other whacked out law schools, most will have a LGBT population.myrockyourrock911 wrote:As a gay male, I am interested in the above. I am. I am just curious as this is a smaller factor I consider.Mr. Matlock wrote:If I were you, I'd worry more about the school that offers you the best opportunity to be employed after graduation. Gotta love TLS.
But on a serious note, UCLA has a sexual orientation legal clinic and their campus houses the foremost sexual orientation public policy think-tank in the country. I don't know how the student body is, but I imagine there must be a significant draw with those two offerings.

Lest anyone think that I joke, let me say that this was a sincere answer. NYU might not be correct, but I am confident that the other three are the top three.

I don't know about "largest amount", but there is a sizable and active LGBT community at Columbia. There's an LGBT student group (more social), and the Columbia Journal of Gender and Law, which deals extensively (though not exclusively) with LGBT issues in the law.
Many openly gay students, and as far as I can tell no negative interactions/behavior towards them.

This is an awful reason to go to a particular law school. If you're wanting to go to a school with a large gay scene, go to a school in any major city. (Chicago, San Fran, NYC,)

This is probably TCR, given the size of Cooley, Harvard, and GULC.Oblomov wrote:myrockyourrock911 wrote:Thought so. Thanks.Oblomov wrote:Cooley followed by Georgetown, Harvard and then NYU.

This isn't TCR. Gays are Schooled. Schooled people don't go to Cooley.OperaSoprano wrote:This is probably TCR, given the size of Cooley, Harvard, and GULC.Oblomov wrote:myrockyourrock911 wrote:Thought so. Thanks.Oblomov wrote:Cooley followed by Georgetown, Harvard and then NYU.

I've never understood this question being asked over and over again.
There are the most gay students EXACTLY WHERE YOU THINK THERE WOULD BE. At schools in urban, liberal, places that aren't in the Bible Belt. Revolutionary.

Northeastern--we even got a flyer in our admissions packet proclaiming itself the "gayest law school in the country." We have LGBT groups, classes, the annual "Gay/Lesbian/Bi-Sexual Graduates Network" list, and many openly out faculty/staff.

Re: Law school with largest amount of gay students
I know there's that little book that LSAC publishes "Out and In" (wordplay!) which has a useful little chart at the back comparing which schools have LGBT students, faculty, courses, anti-discrimination policies etc. While it doesn't describe the size of the communities and the data is self-reported, still found it useful. There must be something similar on their website?
Ah, yes. Here: http://lsac.org/SpecialInterests/lgbt-chart.asp
Hope it is somewhat helpful! Disagree with the above - while nobody is running around picking their schools based solely on this, it should most certainly be a consideration for anyone who would like to be 'out' while at school or in their subsequent job.

really? Hyde Park and the campus is very LGBT friendly. the rest of the south-side not so much, but then again, most UofCers dont ever venture beyond the patrol routes of UCPD.Dead Ringer wrote:Not u of c. Doesn't conform to the liberal city theory.
