On a typical day, how busy does it get? I guess I'll take it one step further and ask if it's ever filled to capacity as well?

I sneak into the UCLA Law library Love the tables and chairs

You basically need to present an ID before they let you in...they prohibit non-Law students from studying there when it's near the end of the semester so Law students can study for their finals (which messes everything up for us undergrads who are on the quarter system )

UCLA Law Library FTW. Absolutely beautiful. To top it all off, the security guard wished me luck during finals!

OK- I'm just going to put my 2 cents in...
What the F&*% does it matter.
Law libraries are a thing of the past- a relic of the bygone days of opening books to look-up cases and statutes. Today, just need an internet connection and a Westlaw/Lexis password. My school has a new (2nd year it has been open) 14 million dollar 3 story law lib with everything from 60 inch flatscreen tvs to dozens of computer rooms, reading rooms, carals, meet rooms, etc, etc, etc.

Guess what- After the first few weeks of school- NO ONE IS IN THERE (in relation to the 600+ student body). It is used to wow would-be students and alumni (I guess).. but otherwise a total waste of space.

Worry about the type of faculty and students... the size and quality of the law library is (or should be) about as low on the priority list as possible.

Rant ends... now

Please dont ruin my romantic fantasy of spending my hours in a gothic-style library... curled up in my sweater with a cup of coffee and reading cases.

Nice to know there are others who share the same law school fantasies!

the reading room is typically never even near capacity unless it's near finals. At that point half of the reading room is closed and reserved for law students only. Even in those times, I've never been completely unable to find a seat if I wanted one.

UT has a pretty ugly law library. I think it looks like a prison from the outside. I couldn't find any pics of the outside, so here's a taste of the interior:

I think USC has to have one of the most underwhelming libraries of the T20. The first time I was in there I didn't even realize I actually was in the library. It was just a series of large rooms with a lot of books.

Ha Ha... I guess what i described does sound a lot like a library, but I personally think a good library should feel like a library, and this requires more than just books and space. At USC it seems more like a book storage area than a library.

Michigan may have a beautiful reading room, but the carpet in the actual library is a serious turnoff. It looks like a Florida grandmother's fake lawn.

BU is TCR. I love BU, but their library is just 2 floors of the massive ugly tower. My UG library was considerably nicer.

Wow. The "Real Gabinete Portugues De Leitura" in Rio de Janeiro is breathtaking.

It's super functional, and super ugly. Actually, our facilities as a whole are underwhelming aesthetically.

Meh, whatever keeps the tuition down. I'm super happy. I'm up late briefing cases and all that shit. It's fun. How could anyone hate this?
