Duke has been getting consistently stronger employment numbers as far as I can tell. Both send a fair portion of the class to CA and I met lots of students from CA at both ASWs (particularly Duke's). Probably go with which environment you like better as I found them to be very different.

Post-graduation reputation is absolutely meaningless, because it's not going to change significantly for either of these schools in the space of three years. What's your actual COA at each?

TCR is whichever one you liked most/felt most comfortable at. Although when comparing peer schools a recent kajillion dollar donation to one is a decent tiebreaker as far as it goes.

I vote Duke because of employment prospects. But the two are peers, so if you happen to love one and hate the other, it wouldn't be wrong to choose whichever one you favor.

Taking into account potential tuition increases using each school's historical rate of increase, Duke comes out to about 178k, and NU, 167k, though I've heard that the COA estimate on Duke's website is inflated. I've been offered equivalent schollies at each school.

That Duke number is definitely high, I got 7k less at Duke than NU and my calculation of COA was pretty much equal. Durham is cheap to live, Streeterville is definitely not (think $700-800 for a studio vs 1250-1350 for a studio).

Basically splitting hairs here, but if you had to pick a tiebreaker to consider:
Northwestern places an average of 44/year in CA (15% of grads) compared to Duke's 24/year (11% of grads). So NU would have a larger alumni network in CA compared to Duke.

Everyone and their mother at Duke wants to go to NYC or DC though. 24 is more than 10% of the class going to CA and given that the vast majority of students aim for NY or DC, it isn't difficult to go back to CA with a degree from Duke.

flights from Chi to CA are cheaper than from Durham or Raleigh so you should go to NU
