Is the T13 Now Confirmed?
GULC dropped out of the T14 rankings again. They are not tied for 15 with UCLA.

Is this confirmation of the speculation that has been here for a long time, that there are really only 13 "top" schools and that Georgetown belongs in the tier with vandy, texas, ucla etc.?

there's people talking about it in this thread: http://www.top-law-schools.com/forums/v ... 0#p9842270 if you want to check it out
But I don't think it's the T13 now, just that UT got added to the T14.

There will be people who will still call it the T14 regardless, and there will be those who call it the T13.Hikikomorist wrote:No.Mikey wrote:there's people talking about it in this thread: http://www.top-law-schools.com/forums/v ... 0#p9842270 if you want to check it out

Re: Is the T13 Now Confirmed?
There are still only 13 schools in the United States where you can enter expecting to work in BigLaw (ETA and BigLaw-type prestigious positions). 2 internationally elite, 11 nationally elite which mostly place into specific markets/regions.
The T14 provided Georgetown with needed cover, given that its outcomes place somewhere between T14 and UT/UCLA/Vanderbilt. I am assuming this will provide one year of minor controversy, before Georgetown is added back into the T14 next year.

Re: Is the T13 Now Confirmed?
As usual, GULC is no better or worse than it ever was. Generally same hiring rates that place it well lower than the T13 and at or slightly ahead of its UT/UCLA/Vandy peers.
As a GULC grad (and the total opposite of a GULC apologist), no one here in BigLaw gives a shit about rankings minutiae. The school serves as a general proxy for candidate quality but really it's about connections and getting a foot in the door to sell yourself. GULC has its roots in a number of firms and so do these other schools - the degree to which may vary but I've got peers here from all three of the other schools in my firm and they're smart capable people.
None of this really matters

U Chicago's resistance to downsizing the number of books in its library finally paid off.

Re: Is the T13 Now Confirmed?
Exactly, I think most people know that GULC is still a great school. It is just interesting to speculate on if this is the beginning of a new conventional thinking about law school prestige. 10 years down the road (if rankings still move around and GULC hops in and out) will people generally be talking about the T13 instead?mudiverse wrote:The desire to shitpost outweighs all logic.Capitol_Idea wrote:As usual, GULC is no better or worse than it ever was. Re: Is the T13 Now Confirmed?
T13 confirmed. Top 14 USED to be the distinction because other than the debut rankings, the top 14 had never been a top 14 ranked school. This isn't true anymore. Downsizing the "Top x" happens in lots of fields, it's unfortunate for GULC that it happened to them, but they can never be regarded in the same vein as the T13 again.
