I think OP is trolling because he advised someone in another thread to wait a cycle.

I do understand a little of OP not wanting to retake since he took the exam 5 years ago.

WUSTL app is still available. Do it now.

You could call and check if those are hard deadlines. If they are still accepting applications maybe those deadlines are flexible.

I wouldn't put too much stock in that. WUSTL has boatloads of money and they will throw it at you if they want you. I got an email saying they waved my fee just the other day so I take it their still in need of applicants with that LSAT range.

Money will also be freed up as more and more people withdraw too.

All right. I will give it a try and submit my application tomorrow.

What would be the benefit of WUSTL though? Does it have a national presence or would I be confined to the local market?

The immediate selling point of it here is its generosity and receptiveness to splitters.
WUSTL seems to spread its graduates out all around the country since it doesn't have a big home market.

There are a lot of WUSTL grads on TLS who can speak about it more if it becomes a serious option for you.

I'm just saying it'd be good to have as a negotiating tool.

Thanks, I will definitely give it a shot. It hadn't been something I considered before.

None of your current options have a "national presence". Ever heard the phrase "beggars can't be choosers"?

Sit out a cycle and retake, or you simply will not achieve the goals you've set for yourself. You absolutely can sit out this cycle. There is no reason you need to go now. You are making a godawful decision.

Oh okay I was thinking you were married to Virginia/DC.
Did you try state flagships I'm the midwest like UIllinois-UC?
As a splitter you have to really seek out deals and apply pretty broadly.

I have a lot of family actually in the D.C. Area. That's why I'm trying to get back there. I did a fairly big blanket of 16 schools. I'm generally getting 20-25k at all the schools. I'm not necessarily looking for a BigLaw job after school. My biggest concern I guess is being able to manage the debt wherever I go. Only paying $8k a year in tuition at W&L affords me much more freedom as far as work. I wouldn't necessarily be tied down and forced to kill myself to try and get a big time job.

I did apply to Loyola and Chicago-Kent. But those are t horribly well ranked.

DogSitting wrote:The law field is highly saturated? Omg. I had absolutely no idea. I am so clueless. I cannot believe I have never heard such a thing before. Jobs aplenty? What an oversight. Thank you so much for opening my eyes. You are a man of true knowledge.

From your apocalyptic tone it seems as if nobody graduating outside a top 10 schools ever secures a job.

Get a grip dude. No matter what school you attend there are going to be employment opportunities that match up with how well you did in law school in combination with the schools reputation in that relative market.

Quit using this forum to act as a bearer of doom and trying to shit on people's career aspirations and actually give insightful advice. Your four years of undergrad give you far less insight than you'd like to think.
As far as I can see, Npret is an attorney working in a firm.

Anyhow, a 0L here, but my understanding from the research I've done is that W&L mostly places in Central VA, not in D.C.

W&L will NOT get you a job in DC. DC is probably the single most competitive market. There are stats out there that say 1/12 DC residents have a JD. Especially for biglaw, most DC offices have smaller summer classes and its extremely competitive. I know people in t6 schools in the top 25% that strike out at OCI for DC offices. Same goes for many of the federal honors programs, they are extremely competitive (and likely to be even more competitive with DOJ shrinking honors hiring a lot in some sections). You really truly need to reconsider your goals.

Don't feel greedy at all. It's a huge financial undertaking with a lot of risk involved.
They want your 168 and it's a buyer's market with applicants down over last year.

Be persistent. Worst they can say is no.

Tbf 10% of W&L grads went to DC last year (last year being the class of 2015).
Yeah OP shouldnt be DC Biglaw or bust but it's not like DC is completely closed off the W&L grads.

More data:
10% go to New York.
25% stay in Virginia.

I'm not dead set on D.C. Like I said before I basically am the most concerned with an employment outcome that allows me to comfortably pay back my student loans. I have no idea yet where my significant other is going to end up. He is applying all over the country right now with his program.

W&L does place 10% of its class in D.C. though! So it seems like a long shot but it might be a possibility. It's not like Wayne State where the door is welded shut. Haha

Thanks for this!

I definitely have my eyes open. I know the odds but it's nice to know there is a chance. A small one. But a chance.

I don't have any first-hand advice for you, but I bookmarked this topic once upon a time:

A more focused forum search might yield better advice.
