Vandy vs. Emory vs. UT

Post by maltod12 » Fri Apr 01, 2016 12:57 am

I am basically down to Vanderbilt #16 (cost of 10 year note $207,000), Emory #22 ($75,000 after GA job compensation), and Tennessee #65 ($20,000). I do not honestly know what type of law I will end up in but would prefer to stay in the Southeast. My concerns are crushing debt vs. prestige that will perhaps open doors as I may need those doors since I am undecided. I am also switching careers at the age of 32 so I am a lil behind in the game of paying off debt. Thank you for your thoughts!

With what you've said, it's hard to justify Vanderbilt at its current cost to you. Emory seems okay at that price. I don't know what jobs your typical UTK grad gets, but if you're comfortable with those, then UTK could make sense too.

Probably Emory. Vandy if you're OK with the debt. Are you not interested in re-taking for scholarships at better schools?

I took it once, cautious that if I didn't improve, it would weaken my standing. Is it too late to retake if I'm set on starting in the fall? Would the June test have an effect on scholarship offers?
