we should make this a sticky for when people complain about us telling them to retake (Yes, I am looking at you, South Texas v. Baylor guy...)

I'm @ OSU probably going end up with no to little debt and I just want to congratulate you. OSU is a good school for OH and arguably some of its neighbors, but you'll have MANY, MANY doors open with that score combination. Congrats taking some good advice. Hopefully you don't want to come to the OH market for employment ;)

The first LSAT I did not study for, and the second LSAT I studied for about two months but not effectively. I have the summer off, so I'm strongly considering studying full time for the June LSAT. If I make a significant change (like up to a 165), I may decide to reapply next year. If I do reapply, I could also study for about 4 months and take the October LSAT.

My GPA is a 4.0 also.
Holy.

If you have a 4.0 you absolutely HAVE to retake, especially if you scored a 155 without studying. Take as long as you need, but hit 170+ on the LSAT and you are going t14 at a very steep discount

You owe this person 150k

WOW congrats! That's really flippin awesome! With a 4.0/173, the world is your oyster.

You should seriously do a writeup on how you came to the decision to wait and retake, and how you studied to get to your 173. Whatever you did to get from 159 to 173 was pretty darn successful.

Thank you! :D It's almost scary to think of how different life would be if I accepted that 159. I was under the impression that the LSAT wasn't learnable. I'll most likely do a writeup after I send my apps in... didn't do anything too different from the regular but it could always help someone else.

Thank you all :D it's all about expectations. I'm glad I had really high expectations for myself. It was a lot of hard work (4 months of studying about 25-30 hours a week), but it was worth it. I know someone from my same undergrad who got a 172/ 3.9 and he applied to a TTT. Luckily he didn't attend and went on a completely different career path.

I'm counseling high school students now and helping them get into college. Even the brightest students with near perfect acts and perfect gpas don't aspire to anything other than the closest state school that will accept people with ACT scores of 17. I guess its just has to do with this area of the country (rural south).

Giving me hope...I got a 157 after failing hard on June...gonna give it a go around this December to send in my applications. I took my first PT after 2 months of studying and got a 166 with a BR of 170+. There is hope! I have a month to nail this thing!

Definitely have hope. I did a lot of visualization. I had to hit that score and I knew that I would. I scored higher than a 173 probably on about 5 or so of my practice tests, so try to get your PT average above your goal score.

I think we've all patted ourselves on the backs enough here guys. Let's not forget OP is still going to be a lawyer.
