Cornell vs Duke Forum

Both deposit deadlines are upcoming this week and I'm trying to make a decision:::

Duke (About 58K cost of attendance per year after 18k/year scholarship) vs Cornell (about 45K cost of attendance per year after 35k/year scholarship).

Other offers for reference: 120k from USC, 75k from UCLA, 60k from GULC, 135k from Emory

Optimally, my goal would be to head back to the San Francisco Bay Area - I was born and raised there, girlfriend is there, parents still live there (I'm waitlisted at Berkeley), but I understand the market is over-saturated and am open to other markets whether it be NYC or DC.

I love Cornell's job numbers but have never been to Ithaca and have a reluctance to commit based on what other students have described the quality of life to be like there. On the other hand, I've heard great things about the area around Duke and I love basketball However, it doesn't seem like it could get me to any of my target markets any better than Cornell would, and I'm not sure its worth it given the substantial difference in cost.

If anyone has any insight on the two schools or has made/is making a similar decision, your input would be greatly appreciated!

For your goals, Duke is definitely not 40K+ better than Cornell. Are you okay with NYC biglaw as an outcome? If so, I'd take cornell. If not, I'd take USC, or retake for boalt. Good luck.

Both are slightly increased scholly offers. I sent a 2nd request to Duke this past week, but I'm not confident I'll get answer before the deposit deadline
