UC Irive - UC Hastings - University of San Francisco (USF)
COA for all three years (rounded figures)
UCI - 150K (negotiating for match with Hastings)
UC Hastings- 128k
USF- 110k
I prefer to eventually live and work in the bay area where my family resides. I'm primarily seeking to work in public interest or international/ domestic human rights. Environment is important to me; I was not impressed by Hastings large class size and run down buildings.
Employment, of course, is also important. UCI has far better stats, but smaller alumni base. Regionally (at least in the field of public interest law and human rights) Hastings and USF are fairly equal.
I love what UCI is doing with the school, and the incredibly supportive environment they've created coupled with outstanding faculty and an emphasis in the social impact of law.
I'm not retaking the LSAT. I'm also not interested in corporate or big law.

Why isn't Davis on the list?

Waitlisted, but definitely a consideration if I were to be admitted.

I understand USF is ranked significantly lower, but if I am looking to work in the bay area, I've been told that the two are pretty equal in reputation in the bay area in the field of public interest. I am interested why no votes for USF given the significantly better scholarship? I also feel like with a smaller class size, my grades would be better at USF.

Is that COA per year or total?

I imagine USF has no votes due to abysmal employment stats. Hastings likely has a couple due to perceived prestige...or almost prestige. Hastings apparently was something special back in the day, but grads aren't placing that well these days. I am not at all tuned in to public interest law in the bay but I still think it is the better degree to have of those two. Probably the better school too.horseshoe1 wrote:(the two meaning hastings and usf)horseshoe1 wrote:I understand USF is ranked significantly lower, but if I am looking to work in the bay area, I've been told that the two are pretty equal in reputation in the bay in the field of public interest. You have more than a full ride at Hastings and USF?
