Thank you for all the answers! It gives me even more to consider.

I had a question concerning placement in Chicago. Would I have difficulties placing there even if I attend UIUC? I have no ties there, so that makes me a little apprehensive. What about placing in St. Louis from UIUC or Des Moines from Iowa? How insurmountable are the hurdles of not being from those cities but from the Midwest?
