But seriously...On the PI part, 144k is the face value COA before LRAP. I'm going to sit down with the UMich Dean of Financial Aid during my visit and understand better how I should look at that number. I agree that as a PI person, I need to be extremely cautious about the financial burden. For that reason I will look into transferring to a school with better PI opportunity (mostly LRAP) after my 1L. But at the same time I understand the transfer option is not something that I can plan for, and I want to be at a school that I could be happy to attend for the next three years.

The GULC vs. Mich is harder to answer now because GULC just offered more scholarship last night which brought down the COA difference to less than 10K. At this point I have more exposure to GULC (faculty & alumni) so I will definitely have to make the most out of the Mich Preview weekend to make the right decision.

I would check with each school and inquire about the JD placement for internationals....will require a work visa and that requires that the law firm substantiate that they cannot find any other workers to fill their jobs. (yeah, right)

An an international, are you even eligible for LRAP?

Especially after the discussion thus far, still not seeing what distinct advantages GULC is bringing to the table for OP...

I should have been clear. I am a permanet resident and I dont need a visa to work in the US, and I am eligible for fed loan and LRAP. The only reason I stated my international background is the possibility of seeking work outside of the US ( international public law ) after graduation. With many internationals attending GULC connections may matter. Can anyone comment on GULC's strength in international public law?
