UIUC vs. LUC

Hello!

I'm currently deciding between UIUC and LUC. I have full tuition scholarship and UIUC and a 41,000/44,000 at LUC. At LUC I also have a fellowship for the child and family law clinic (which is the law I want to practice).

I know that UIUC is much better ranked and the LUC isn't a tier one school... but I also love Chicago (lived there for undergrad) and would be living with my best friends (who are not a distraction and will also be in graduate school)... which I feel is important for a support system. I don't particularly like Champaign (boring and not much to do), but it does have a much better reputation and is cheaper, due to the scholarship and just general cost of living.

I don't have a clue what to do.

In order to receive the best feedback in this forum, please provide as much of the following information in your original post as possible:

-The schools you are considering
-The total Cost of Attendance (COA) of each. COA = cost of tuition + fees + books + cost of living (COL) + accumulated interest - scholarships. Here is a helpful calculator.
-How you will be financing your COA, i.e. loans, family, or savings
-Where you are from and where you want to work, and other places where you have significant ties (if any)
-Your general career goals
-Your LSAT/GPA numbers
-How many times you have taken the LSAT

You should negotiate up LUC, first and foremost, using the UIUC offer as leverage.

I have begun negotiating. Sent an e-mail attaching my UIUC scholarship offer to LUC... and I met with an admissions counselor at UIUC Saturday and she's going to try to get more summer money to cover internships since most public interest (if not all) internships are unpaid.

I just worry that it will take a long time and I don't have long to formally accept the fellowship!

Have you asked LUC for an extension contingent upon your negotiation offer being reviewed?

UIUC is definitely your better option.
