W&M 45k COA
GULC 225k COA

Want to work in government - public defense, eventually judge hopefully. Possible in later years move to international courts. Georgetoen is not just about debt (because they have unique loan repayment assistance for gov workers) but I hate the city enviorment and cut throat feel I got from visiting this weekend.

Your goals (besides PD) are pretty insane (lol international courts, especially outside cities) but sticker is virtually never a good idea. Where are you from/where do you want to be a pd?

good on you for having ambitious goals, but i think you might want to have some more grounded alternatives in addition. would the cost of attendance be worth it if you didn't get government? you shouldn't just consider the cost compared to what you want to get out of the JD; you should consider the cost compared to the likely outcomes as well.

refine your goals and go to W&M or retake the LSAT.

I'm from FL. And options your side are big law firms - I have some connections there. I'm oldn to staying in VA to practice - Richmond area is area I can drive into. Nothing wrong with having big goals. I want to start as pd.

Being a judge in an international court is never going to happen for you. Nice to have lofty goals but lets be realistic.

W&M for close to free is TCR here over sticker at GULC.

I want to be prosecutor not judge there. I am realistic - I know unlikely just throwing my dreams out there apparently for everyone to laugh at.

BigLaw will probably not happen from W&M. It's not a bad school at the right price, but it basically gives you a 1/5 shot at BigLaw. Not enough that you can consider BigLaw your backup plan.

If you're from Florida and want to stay there (you said you were open to VA, not that you wanted VA) why is UF/FSU with $$$$ not an option?

Edit: Also your other posts indicate you applied ED to GULC. You know that's binding, right?

I think your looking at the wrong person. I didn't apply ED anywhere.

I have family connections to big law in FL

I got into UF with $$ I could haggle but it's ranked 49th - I go to UF undergrad and have heard horrible things about the law program .

My bad, I didn't see that you were quoting someone.

Anyway, rankings don't really matter, especially for jobs like PD. Go to the state flagship of the place you want to work (if that's FL, go to UF/FSU) so you can network/intern/extern like hell with Florida PD offices.

Yes, rankings are irrelevant, but I can't in good conscience advise anyone to attend UF law. We need to know OP's LSAT. If they were admitted at Georgetown then they are qualified for offers with scholarship from Emory, maybe UT, definitely UGA/Bama. As for local roots and playing a PI ground game, OP can already lean on the Florida alumni network from their undergrad. I don't really understand how William & Mary became the only reasonably priced option and Gtown at sticker isn't in the mix. This needs more thought.

0L GULC kids bring their parents to admitted students day. And their employment stats are horrendous. I would run, not walk, from that tuiton trap to your regional option w/ 'dat $$$.

When I was a kid I wanted to be the GM of a Major League baseball team during the day and Batman at night, then I grew up a realized that I was unlikely to become either.

William and Mary with a large scholarship is a strong option and Georgetown is one of the DC powerhouses. But where is GW? Haven't you applied yet? You may not get as much money as W&M is offering you. But in terms of value, it is a better value.
