He probably couldn't get a full ride from Vandy with that gpa.
That's a low GPA??!?!?

Thank god for business school. I'll ride my 3.0 GPA off into the sunset.

lol, yeah, for a full ride.. Vandy only gives out a few (comes with a stipend too). He would need to at least be above the median (3.74 maybe?) to get that. Probably needs to be above the 75th. Could definitely cop a full ride at WashU though.

I know it sounds crazy to retake, but if you can get up to a 175, you're looking at YHS and probably $60-$90k at Chicago and NYU after using a Northwestern scholarship to negotiate with Chicago.

I would normally say go the engineering route, but my understanding is that with an MA with no engineering in UG you get about the same jobs as a BS would get and it sounds like you can't get any substantive work experience with your current degree.
