What school admin would let a dumpster fire be a part of their university?

With the development of a law minor at WMU, 1L classes on campus, and a 3+3 program? Be still my heart.

They are really distancing themselves from the Cooley name, eh?

Now that they're affiliated with an actual school can you still get in without a bachelor's degree?

Little Cooley anecdote: My brother-in-law is an attorney at a large firm in Florida, and was asked to man a booth at some legal career fair thing for law students. He said the Cooley students from Florida were, without exception, the dumbest people he's ever met. At one point he had this exchange:

Him: So, what kind of law are you interested in practicing?
Cooley Student: The UN.
Him: The UN?
Cooley: Yeah, you know. I want to be where they do all the international court stuff.
Him: I see....well, that doesn't really exist in Florida, at least not at our firm.
Cooley, total shock: What?!

"What kind of law you wanna do?"
"Supreme Court"
"and you?"
"The Lakers"

Sheer eloquence.

I love that people have passions, but this person's goal to practice "UN law" reminds me of that conversation we had a couple of weeks ago about not adequately preparing high school students for failure and coping mechanisms.

Edit: now that I think about it, this OP is a similar situation.

Pretty wild that Cooley sponsors a minor league baseball stadium.

Silly prestige blinders - we at GULC have a mystical connection to Congress through proximity to it. Which is why the TRUE right answer is 'Cardboard-box-outside-Capitol-Building School of Law and Shouting at Mailboxes/Passing Cars.' They have an impressive hobo-to-student-ratio of 3:1!

IDK it was particularly hilarious that OP included GULC in the poll even though in his first post he says they rejected him. And then he proceeded to refuse to take a year off for any reason.

LOL

If you're rich and white, you would have made it in politics already without bothering to go to law school....It's 90% about connections.

There are many politicians with less than prestigious backgrounds. Look at Reagan. Truman didn't even have a college degree. Same with Scott Walker. Did their lack of prestige stop their march to the top? NO.

Wow, this is some spectacular trolling. Yea just pull the Reagan, it's really easy. You just need to start by becoming a famous Hollywood actor.

"Truman and Reagan weren't "prestigious" but they became president. Therefore, I'm going $250k into debt to attend GW law, so I can go back to my home state where no one cares and start my own law practice with all the "skills" I learned in law skool. That way, they'll just HAVE to make me president of the United States."

But just in case you're not trolling, you're a complete fucking idiot. The good news is that if you're from a Southern State, this level of stupidity practically guarantees you a House seat.

The people I know who went to Cooley weren't necessarily dumb, but just had difficulty with English and grew up in households where English wasn't spoken. I don't think enough people realize the importance of reading and writing, because if you're nice and make an effort most teachers before law school make a legitimate effort to not factor language into how they grade you. That said, I've also met people with similar disadvantages who were so intelligent they could still get good grades at top schools.

I also doubt school prestige factors in as much into democratic success as the results indicate, and think it's correlation. When Clinton and Obama walk stand on are at a debate it's obvious they belong there. I don't know if even half of those who voted for them know where they went to law school.
