In honor of March Madness............................which now ends in April. WTF?

Here are your brackets:

1. Mercer 3L - experience and financial debt vs. Percy - pure talent and maker of many bad decisions
2. Mercer 1L - pure agression vs. 1more - spiteful evil in all its incarnations

Not to attack him, but to reach out to him and attempt to address his perceived shortcomings.
you make Mercer sound like a really creepy cult.... or like scientology or something....

Percy wrote:I disagree.

It is important to separate emotion from facts. The forthcoming outting of 'Mercer Law 1L' is a result of just how close the 1L class (and 2L and 3L) is. He is not a part of their community and they deserve to know who he is. Not to attack him, but to reach out to him and attempt to address his perceived shortcomings. Which, is all they are. Mercer may not enjoy the reputation of UGA or Duke, but that is not to say that Mercer has a bad reputation or is a bad school.

The problem is that there have been few, if any, facts presented on this board. At best, there has been anecdotal suppositions and knee jerk reactions, particularly from 'Mercer Law 1L'. I agree that tier 2 schools should be more forthcoming with their placement and pay successes. However, the facts that he has presented are absolutely erroneous.

A quick tour of http://www.law.mercer.edu/career/placement/index.cfm will demonstrate that.

Leader: He is not one of US!
Lemmings: Shame Shame Shame

Leader: We must fix him.
Lemmings: Correct him. Fix him. Make him one with the Merciverse. All hail Macon. All hail Macon.

edit: I don't believe Percy (WTF) actually meant it this way. It's just fun when your drunk to mock such things.

Thanks.

But, I meant it in all sincerity. There is a big distinction between beating someone's ass by the bicycle rack (we got one yesterday!!! http://www2.mercer.edu/News/Articles/20 ... ycling.htm) and asking them why they are so upset.

Good. Hopefully he can dig up more information. Someone should forward this thread to Lat.

This thread has officially gone off the unintenional comedy scale....

Can we confirm if this is admissions, by the way? Lat would really enjoy that.

Percy is either a student or professor since he/she outed the name of a 1L in the last post (very poor judgment). Incidentally, it's highly likely that the 1L named was the one who wrote that hilarious, disjointed post refuting my points.

I can't believe I attend this place. These posts speak for themselves. I hope 0Ls view this thread for years to come.
The behavior of the Mercer posters in this thread (and the threads starting on JDU, autoadmit, etc.) might just put Mercer in the Cooley category of T4s.........

Wouldn't it be interesting if this thread results in Mercer supplanting Cooley as the prime cannon fodder for law school forums.

It is election year after all, time for big changes...

Checking some IP's on this thread, and some posters appear to be the same people.

Maybe someone at Mercer has multiple-personality disorder.

One minute he loves the school, the next he forgot that he has a job.....

Wow. This may be both the funniest and most tragic post I have ever read on TLS. I do not know Mercer University School of Law well enough to enter the debate on the pros and cons of the education and overall experience. But as the 100th best law school in the nation (this thread may push it over to Tier 3), there are many schools far worst.

While everyone is entitled to their opinion, I think outing anyone on the boards is inappropriate. The moderators ban anything very offensive such as racism, sexism, ad hominem attacks, etc., beyond that I am a proponent of free speech and if a current student is unhappy with a law school he/she should have the right to convey that. At the same time, I welcome the others who put forward the positive experiences they have had at Mercer. Discord is a greater teacher than concord and I think that we should allow a free exchange of ideas without fear of a witch-hunt.

Let the debate rage on! Even with this thread, Cooley still has my vote as the worst law school out there due to their ranking system which ranks using factors like library space and the number of parking lots (not quite yet, but next year's rankings will :D).

According to this article on their website, Mercer's law school is one of the nation's most outstanding.

If you are a Mercer Law graduate, have decent grades, passed the bar, aren't completely unfortunate looking
, and have a decent personality you WILL find a job. Again, you know absolutely zero about actually finding an attorney job. I personally know plenty of other law students still at Mercer and plenty of recent graduates. NOBODY is having the trouble you speak of.
I've said this before and I'll say it again, the legal profession is in trouble, not Mercer. Do your homework before you invest in a profession you won't be satisfied with

Oh right. Like I haven't talked to the two dozen 3Ls who can't find jobs. Or the half dozen grads still living in Macon trying to find a job. Those are just the ones I've personally met. I know one married guy right now still living in the same apartment he rented throughout law school. He's still looking for a job and his loan repayments are coming up soon. He doesn't know what to do about his wife because he may have to move in with his folks.

Advice from an honest Mercer alum:

MERCER LAW SUCKS,

I do agree with you that the administration blames the students for their poor career prospects. I also agree with you that the school does very little to help students find jobs. I was on eattorney myself recently and was appalled at how little there was out there through the school. The very best thing you can do is to network through your summer internships and through the legal community to find those good jobs. Start building your contacts now.

Have you considered transferring to UGA or GA State? There are people who do transfer law schools as a 2L. Of course, it may be that you are in the 1L rut. I wanted to quit law school after my first semester, but talked myself out of it. My class lost 30 students the first year through either failing out, dropping out, or transferring.

If you really want to be a lawyer, stick it out. Good luck to you
