Tax LL.M - Florida or NYU?

Post by LOLyer » Fri Apr 04, 2014 11:26 am

I have been accepted to NYU and Florida's Tax LL.M. programs, and I am looking for advice on which to attend. NYU has the top ranked program, but Florida is ranked just behind it and is far cheaper. I graduate from a southern TTT law school in May. I would prefer going to NYU, but it's just so expensive. Can anyone shed some light onto the job prospects between the two schools? Is NYU worth the extra cost?

The last thing you want is to pay debt on two unusable degrees but if Fla is all you say it is, yeah, go there. Even for those earning +100, tuition debt is a lifestyle killer.

I seem to remember hearing (I realize this is not the most confidence inspiring qualifier) that Florida's Tax LLM was one of the few LLMs that was actually worth it, and that, weirdly enough considering it's JD program is so mediocre, the Tax LLM is very well respected.
