I want to work in Indianapolis because of my son being here, but I want to choose the best school for biglaw placement in the city. Does anybody have any opinions on this. How does t14 place in Indy? Is it better to go IU Indy or IUB without debt? Thanks.

I've heard IU Indy is actually preferable to IUB for biglaw in Indy. IU Indy has a stronger alumni network within the city than does IUB. As far as t14, the regional schools would probably be these best bet: U Chi, NW, of U of M. Not sure how well they place within the city though.

IU-B places about three times the percentage of grads in large firms, but we're only talking 4.5% compared to 13.5%, so it's still a real uphill battle from either school. The main reason is that there are so few big firm jobs in Indianapolis. If you spend good money on a T-14 you can try to come back to Indy during OCI but you'll need to spend other bids on bigger markets like NYC and Chicago to ensure a job that will pay your debt. If you go to either Indiana school you'll be going to a place that only puts about 55% of its grads into long term, full time legal work 9 months after graduation. But if you get one of those jobs, it will be probably be in Indy. It will likely be small law, so make sure that if you graduate from an Indiana school you're okay with that. If leaving Indiana isn't realistic and you only want to work in a big firm if you work as a lawyer at all, law school is probably a bad idea, but you could go on a full ride to IUI or IUB and just gun as hard as possible, dropping out if you don't finish near the top of your class.
