Which should I choose
SO my total COA at the following schools are this, (I expect that I will want to live and work in Michigan regardless of which school I go to_
Michigan: $0 (scholarship, parent aid, live at home since I am from Michigan)
Virginia: $120k
I got into a couple other schools, but none rated higher than Michigan.
What do you think?

Michigan. It's impossible/very difficult to justify $120k more.

Just to make you feel even better: UVA juices their employment stats by temporarily hiring a lot of their graduates.

I would probably want to cut myself if I lived with my parents through LS even though I have a great relationship with them.
I'd still go to Mich in your situation, but I'd get my own place.

lol Bravo. Would read again.Regulus wrote:If what you are looking to get out of law school is a challenge, then I vote for UVA. UVA will give you the pleasure of fighting an uphill battle as you try to make your way back to your home state while accruing tens of thousands of dollars of nondischargeable debt. You will even be rewarded with a bonus challenge during on-campus interviews as you are required to convince employers in Michigan that you are loyal to their region.
If you are looking to take the coward's route, then I suppose you could stay in Michigan where you will accrue no debt and have a much easier time selling yourself as a Michigander during on-campus interviews.
In the end, it all depends on what you're looking to get out of your law school experience.

Let's do some psychoanalysis. Why exactly are you asking this question? What do you really hope to hear?
It can't be an objective opinion because this isn't a real dilemma and there are not two valid choices. You must really want to go to U.Va. and are looking for anyone or anything to justify it. Well you have found your justification, and his name is Regulus.

OP, as a living, breathing "took the challenge" person (but not at that cost!), I can say that the conventional TLS wisdom may not be what you experience in trying to come back to MI. Feel free to PM me if you want to discuss.Regulus wrote:If what you are looking to get out of law school is a challenge, then I vote for UVA.
