How long does it take a school to receive an application?

Postby gobrue » Fri Dec 13, 2013 7:34 pm

Hey I was wondering how long it takes for a school to have received an application? Is it instantaneous when I hit submit on LSAC or does it take a couple days to process or something? The reason I'm wondering is that I'll be potentially submitting an app before the ED deadline (Jan 7) but I'll only get my Dec score back on the 3rd (if it happens as predicted). So will there still be time to meet the ED deadline after Dec scores are resleased? Thanks

I can't tell you an exact time in hours and minutes, but I had acknowledgments the same day.

If you hit submit before the deadline, the school will count it as in before the deadline. I think what happens is that someone at the school logs into LSAC periodically and downloads batches of applications. But the date of when you submitted is what counts, not when they decide to look at it.

This is only true if it's a submission deadlines. Some schools, like NU, have deadlines for when the app has to be complete, and you want to submit a week or two before that deadline.

OP, what school?

Penn, on their website it says:
By January 7 Application must be received.
By January 15 Application must be complete.

So I'm guessing that just means submitted by the 7th.

Ok. Don't submit on the last day, and I'd submit as early as you can to make sure you hit that complete deadline even if something goes wrong.
