The Best (worst) Law school advertisement/info videos

Post by mewalke1 » Tue Sep 10, 2013 6:18 am

I thought it would be a fun idea to post some of the videos law schools put out to entice potential students.

I have linked a classic from Whittier.

"At Whittier Law School what we try to do....is surf on that wave"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AsZD5i57 ... ature=plcp

Has anyone else noticed that the worst schools advertise the most? I have yet to see a Yale youtube video propping up their legal writing program.

It really is sad how deceptive that video is. Granted, the people that are smart enough to look past this and understand the need to research are laughing at the video, but it is morally wrong for them to mislead their target audience--i.e. low-average students.

I just watched that Whittier video, and then looked at their employment score on LST; almost 1/3 of their class paid hundreds of thousands of dollars to be unemployed.

Like, on the one hand I appreciate the effort from these schools, and the videos aren't always that bad.

On the other, when you say "Charlotte School of Law is the best place to earn a law degree" and then talk about how cool it is that you know how to use... what looks like PowerPoint, it's a bit silly.

Also, disabling comments?! Weak.

As a midwesterner, it seems wrong when anyone other than THE Ohio State University tries to put "the" unnecessarily in front of their school name, and honestly it's pretty weird when people from tOSU do it too.

We understand that attending law school is very expensive, and we're doing what we can to help you achieve that goal.
The ambiguous "that" makes it sound like they're helping students achieve the goal of law school being very expensive. And with only the top 20% of the class having scholarships renewed after the first year, Whittier is helping them achieve THAT goal.

Also I love how Jacksonville is Florida Coastal's selling point.

Cooley seems extremely insecure about its weather (odd, given all the things Cooley should be insecure about)

Well she's half right, it's not only about the top 5 schools; NYU's gotta count for something.

First off, if it's not about the big names or the top 5 schools, then why did she go to the #2 law school in the nation that happens to be the biggest law school (well maybe not this year) as well?

Also, on a non-sarcastic note, who the hell goes to UMich undergrad and then Cooley?!?!

Lies!

It is definatly not cheaper to study at PSOL than the other two law schools in the state. In fact PSOL tuition at $42,000 is way up there...but its the only private school in Arizona so you know

It won't be hard to find a job......its accredited by the ABA!!!!

Reading comp fail. Clearly the ad only claims to be cheaper than other LAWS, not law schools. Considering the cost of transmogrifying a human being into a form in which one could study at an abstract concept, I'd say the statement is accurate.

At first I thought someone on TLS mocked up that ad and I was going to get a good belly laugh out of it. But the more I read, I slowly came to realize that it was real, and now I am very sad.

Almost wanted to cry when the Whittier video said that law school made students "fully who they are - intellectually and emotionally." If law school makes you fully who you are emotionally, I think it's safe to say you are a terrible person.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
