Top Law Schools

Given the 50k UG debt, biglaw aversity (I would never attend Penn if I were biglaw averse, muchless at sticker), and desire to be a PD or so, I vote UConn with the stipulation that you drop out if you lose your scholarship.

Though if I were you, I would retake and work on paying off that UG debt for 1-2 years.

The prosecutor's office in Connecticut (called the State's Attorney) essentially does not hire. There are job openings once in a while and hundreds of folks sending applications instantaneously. I know several people who dedicated most of their time in law school to interning for the CT State's Attorney's office and never got anywhere. Same story with the public defender. The state government is treading water and they have never really "recruited" new hires right out of law school. Your best hope coming out of UConn - and I'm not exaggerating here - is to graduate jobless; continue to volunteer for the State's Attorney's office indefinitely; hope to get your foot in the door (maybe 4-8 months later) with a per-diem temporary position with no benefits; hope for an entry level job after maybe a year of per diem work. Does this sound like a good plan?

I say this because if your goal is to be a prosecutor, UConn is a poor choice. Not because of its ranking (which btw is totally irrelevant given your employment goals) but because UConn doesn't have great reach beyond the borders of Connecticut, and there are basically no state jobs in Connecticut.
